This has been me since 2025. Something broke in me that year

nobody told me this when i started working a 9-5: - you get home, cook dinner, and don't feel like doing anything else for the rest of the day. then it's right back to work before you know it. - you used to play guitar. you used to read books. you used to work out. they just slowly get phased out of you and you don't even notice it happening. - you eat lunch at your desk because the job is understaffed and you have too much to do. that "1 hour break" they sold you doesn't exist. - you leave the house at 7. you get home at 6. you are physically and mentally exhausted. this is a "good" day. - you sit at your desk and can't get past 5 minutes without being the most bored you've ever been in your life - you feel ready to have a mid-life crisis in 3 years let alone before you turn 40 - one day you realise you're giving up 5 days of your life every single week just to have a few hours at night and 2 days on the weekend. and you just accept it.

While blue-state leftists lecture the South on redrawing congressional maps in adherence to the recent Supreme Court ruling, remember most of them only live in a theoretical world in which they never actually exist among black people. The majority of them are arguing blindly for people who they see as pets in need of a white savior, not people. It’s not racist to treat black Americans the same as their white counterparts. This Alabamian’s description of living in the West and North around white progressives sums up their attitudes perfectly: “The thing that shocked me the most is how segregated they are. … The white people out there, they don’t talk to y’all like people. They don’t interact with people of color that much. When they do interact with them, it’s very weird the way they talk to them [like they’re not a person].” This is why leftists think black people need gerrymandered districts. They live in a segregated world. They can’t fathom the fact that black and white Southerners are much more likely to, and in many cases do, live in integrated communities. Our reality is a foreign concept for them. Ignore their tantrums, Republicans. They speak about things with which they don’t understand.

Something that breaks my heart as a Millennial is how fucking optimistic and fun our teenage years and 20s were. Like we envisioned a TOTALLY different world from the one that we've got and insanely divorced from what Gen-Z are experiencing. Its hard to put in words how fantastic we thought life was gonna be and how it seemed like we were making tangible social progress. We've had all of that ripped away from us.
