@jdtdobson @PamelaSnow2 @buckingham_j Wright et al cover the topic in an accessible way in this book. They highlight the potential for systematic and explicit alphabet instruction in 10-15 minute sessions for some 3-4 year olds, and provide some practical examples of how it can be fun and playful still 🎉

@KyrstieStubbs @adam_voigt We’ve moved away from traditional end of semester reports but it’s still a requirement of our system to provide a written personalised comment. Things haven’t changed much over the last 100 years with report comments despite most other thing’s evolving significantly.

REPORTS It’s time to do things differently! In my last school we just had a QR code to a short video of the teacher talking about the child- Reduced workload Great for parents who struggle to read Very positive feedback from parents -said it was so personal- Worth a try?

@TroyPrimaryEd Unfortunately there are many schools who don’t teach using effective methods and I agree it is very hard to catch them up despite our best efforts. Many of our lowest performers on Year 3 NAPLAN have not been with us since Prep.

You can’t intervene your way out of a Tier 1 problem.
