That’s a wrap on a fantastic day at Holyrood and the Senedd launching our new manifestos for cancer research and care.     Cancer is still the defining health issue of our time - nearly 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime. Ahead of elections in 2026 in Scotland and Wales, we're calling all political parties to prioritise cancer and commit to our calls for change.

Cancer death rates are 48% higher in the most deprived areas of Wales. We are in the Senedd today to call on politicians to take urgent action to reduce these inequalities. Beating cancer in Wales means beating it for everyone. #LongerBetterLivesWales

It was fantastic to join Scottish Obesity Alliance colleagues at the Scottish Parliament last week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Obesity Action Scotland and discuss how products high in fat, salt and sugar are still disproportionately promoted to consumers in comparison to healthier items. The Scottish Government has a significant role to protect the health of future generations. That is why it is so important that it fulfils its promise this parliamentary term to introduce restrictions on price promotions of less healthy food and drink, and the placement of these products instore.
