I have come to realize that .com is the king and it always will be, so I am dropping all my other TLDs, except one. .com isn't dominant just because it arrived first, it's the go-to choice because it's genuinely versatile and aligns perfectly with what most people and businesses intuitively need a domain for. The "com" ending conveniently shortens to several key concepts that cover a huge range of use cases: Commercial (its original official meaning, for businesses and trade) Commerce (e-commerce, shopping, transactions) Communications (media, messaging, broadcasting, networking) Community (forums, groups, social platforms, fan sites) Committee (organizations, boards, associations, nonprofits) Company (the most common everyday association, people think "company website" and default to .com) This flexibility, global familiarity, built-in trust, and sheer habit (users almost always try .com first when guessing or typing a brand's URL), is why it remains the undisputed king of domain extensions across virtually every sector. That being said, the only true contender for second place for a generic catch all extension is .now The word "now" inherently carries a dual layer in English and broader thought. On the surface: Immediacy and action, think "buy now," "watch now," "happening now," which fits fast-paced sectors like media. Deeper layer: Eternal and present. "Now" as the only moment that truly exists. This timeless quality lets .now function as a catch-all in a subtler, more enduring way than urgency alone and works across any field: News/Communications: Not just breaking news, but a perpetual outlet of what's happening and matters now (e.g., ms.now, hoboken.now). Media/Streaming: Content now, not just instant playback, but creating for today's world (e.g., substance.now, md.now). AI/Agents: AI operates in the "now" of computation, processing queries in real time, but also represents the cutting edge that's always current, never outdated (e.g., agently.now, here.now). Commerce: "Shop now", but also brands that feel timelessly relevant "this brand is active now" mindset for evergreen e-commerce. (e.g., tagz.now, truefor.now) Community/Organizations/Committee: Groups that foster connection in the moment, but build lasting bonds because the shared experience is always present. (e.g., neuro.now, futurehope.now) Company/General: A brand saying "we're here now, and we'll always be relevant," avoiding dated vibes while projecting permanence. (e.g.m mtc.now, anywhere.now) In contrast to .com's static, established feel (company/commercial as fixed concepts), .now evokes a dynamic constancy: everything changes, but the "now" endures. It's modern without being trendy, urgent without being frantic, and versatile because the present moment is universal and unchanging. An "always now" angle explains why it's resonating beyond hype, it's not chasing the moment; it's claiming the only moment that matters, now, and that lasts forever. That philosophical depth (intentional or not) gives it greater appeal for forward-thinking entities in media, tech/AI, and beyond. If more adopt it with that mindset, it could evolve into a true .com rival for brands wanting to signal eternal relevance in a fast world.

No one wants you to know this about Domains: 👉 The best ones have always been locked behind a velvet rope. ai dot com sold for $70M. Not at a public auction. Not on a DEX. In a private deal, between insiders, with a wire transfer and a lot of lawyers. You were never going to be in that room. At Doma, we’re changing that. software.ai, is arguably worth just as much as AI.com and soon enough, everyone with a wallet will be able to tap into the liquidity,

Another SellerHub update on Contact owner🚀 Bulk settings – done Default settings for new imports – done More visibility – done + Several quick tips: • The fastest way to turn Contact owner on for all listed domains is to manage this in bulk: SellerHub → Domains → click checkbox next to Domains to select them all → select For sale page in the sidebar → choose For Sale page: ON • Set it once for all future domains: SellerHub → Settings → For sale page This applies to newly imported or reimported domains, while still letting you adjust individual ones anytime • Already turned it on? Give it a moment, the new visual approach will be applied shortly🙂

I've been hearing and seeing different things. A support agent also stated, "Our Tech team confirmed that the commission rates shown on the AtomPay page apply to domains that are not listed on Atom. If the domain is already listed on Atom, the transaction fee will instead be a flat 4.5% for Standard listings, similar to the import lead process."

@kingific Thanks for flagging, just to clarify: This applies to all domains transacted via AtomPay, including Standard and Plus listings. Premium listings are excluded since they follow a different fee structure.

@DomainJames @atomHQ Yeah, it's a bad move, they are also showing on standard landers that don't apply. I have to switch back to Afternic lander at least until it's over

👀 I do really like @atomHQ but I think it's fair to call out areas where they are not working in my (our) favour. I opted out of the 25% discount/sale they are promoting now, yet on all my landers it includes a banner directing potential buyers away from my domain to those running the 25% discount. That is not cool and needs to change in future campaigns...

Good question. At a high level, we see ~2–3x lift in sales velocity during major sale events vs. baseline periods. We also increase marketing investment by 30–40%+ during these events to drive that demand. Autopilot discounts show an uplift as well, though more moderate since they are always-on. They help convert buyers who are on the fence. There's also variability across price points and categories, which is why discounting remains optional so sellers can choose what works best for them.

be warned if you have names at ATOM - they've launched a .com birthday sale event which means your names are discounted by 25%, so when you add that to a 25% commission, means your losing 50%! Just flagging in case you want to opt out

DNS domains now compose 90%+ of our business, and as we move to get several of our TLDs also listed in ICANN over the next few years our focus will continue to grow on the DNS and traditional internet market. We expect that 2-3 years from now DNS and the traditional web will be 99%+ of our business. For this reason you'll see updates on our site to reflect our new focus on traditional web2 domains. This is intentional. Web3 only domains were part of the crypto craze in 2021 but did not cross the chasm into mainstream usage. And for a while now we have believed they will remain a niche market now and into the future. They were a great place to start our journey into domains, but going forward our focus will be even more on the traditional market as it's the market that has crossed the chasm and is seeing mainstream usage.
