I wonder if there are documented cases of a language decaying over time qualitatively (not because it went extinct)? Like maybe it's vocab shrinks and in the process the collective loses some of its richness/complexity/nuance/contextual depth etc.

Because yeah if I really loved it why am I never making any? To be clear I'd like to. I have plenty of ideas I think would be cool to try and I know I don't have to play for anyone but myself so I couldn't give af about being good. So why am I just a consumer? Why do I care I am?
