Call me whatever, but in my opinion, and just my opinion, I don’t want him to run in the Champion/over hurdles, so I’m hoping that is the way. You can say they are racehorses, bred for it, jumping the name of the game etc.. But, it would crush me if anything happened, as it would for any horse, BUT, some don’t have the opportunity like him to then go have a flat campaign. He bolted up by 10 lengths the other day, say what ya like about those in behind. Can I see him winning a Group 1 or Ascot Gold Cup? Probably not. But, plenty big races, G2 & 3s to be won, and we haven’t then taken risks with “what if”. Most importantly, I think he was bouncing the other day and would be happy! Let him go get a new burst of life on the flat. He’s nine. A Champion Hurdle & Supreme winner, A 8 x Grade 1 winner, is it really that bad he runs on the flat from now on? I will emphasise again, as plenty will think that all jumps horses would be the same, but he, himself, now has the chance to go have a flat campaign with plenty upside, so why risk and chance when a new door is opened wide?

Bin the champion off nicky, not worth it. He will have plenty of fun in the summer

For a bit of context, the Ascot chase card (albeit a couple of weeks later) runners traditionally had a shocking record, certainly not helped by the card invariably being run on bad ground. Will be interesting to see how many of this weekends runners back up in 5 weeks time.

Dare I say the Irish/Mullins dont look invincible this year? Plenty look to have had very hard races in bad ground too

@ChillandBill1 Most derbies do these days, manc derby 12.30 last week, old firm always lunchtime, as is merseyside.

Everyone seems to be having a dig at the south coast derby. IMO it's ruined when they decide to kick these games off at 12. #Pompey
