I'm being serious right now. Is anyone willing to sponsor the development of a high-quality community OpenTelemetry Dart SDK? There's a real, acknowledged gap. We have a Workiva repository, but that's corporate-controlled, not community-governed, and only contains trace implementation. A donation proposal was submitted in May 2025, but it hasn't progressed at all. Dart is one of the most popular programming languages; we know this from every year's statistics. I don't care about what you think about it, but if we have Erlang/Elixir, why can't we have one for Dart? The community needs to take the lead and start working on this. I'm willing to do it myself, and hopefully drag into it many other capable engineers, but I'm gonna need financial backers for it. Not going to spend my own time on a project of such significance.

@jezell @shiweidu @kingwill1001 Yes, I do cleanup prompts, find and remove orphaned things, remove not used API surfaces. The bugger insists i. treating everything as a pkg and trying to stay forever within same semantic minor version. I tell it in the APP we own all surfaces and restructure as needed😅

GPT-5.4 is absolutely laughable. It feels like I'm using garbage from three years ago! Time to go back to Claude Code 🥴 Just writing this is nothing but a hallucination! Even after it looked up some information, it's still a hallucination! 👎👎👎

@RydMike @shiweidu And here I am having awesome results with 5.4 😆. I only use it on max mode via codex and mostly for refactoring, testing, and minor enhancements, but it’s great at that. This stuff always seems to be workflow / case specific.

I was going to make a video about this but instead I decided to text. In my life I have not been well mentally. Been depressed, having suicidal thoughts and manic episodes on social media which many of you cried or was disappointed about. Jumped out of a moving as well. Recently I realized that there might have been an issue with me so I went to the Bellevue Hospital where I met with the CEO Suzette Buchanan and was admitted for a week, then was diagnosed with Bi-Polar Disorder. I’m currently on antidepressants and mood stabilizers. In my country, Jamaica, mental health isn’t taken serious. After information of me coming out of the hospital I was bullied and labeled as “a mad man”, even before that throughout my career I have been labeled as such which is understandable because I was suffering from something I had no knowledge of. People took advantage of me, my money and the mental power I possess. Manipulated my emotions and thoughts because I’m vulnerable but really I’m just genuine with a drive to flourish and to help people along my way. Things that happened to me in my life, my career path and the struggles and fights that come with it made my illness even worst. So I’m expressing this to my fans, my supporters all over the world so you all can have a better understanding about the star that you have created. To apologize to you all for the tears that you have shed or the disappointments you might have felt towards me, and asking for your full support throughout this very difficult time in my life. I am still able to create so the journey doesn’t stop until we have successfully taken over the world. I am still streaming on TikTok for entertainment and financial support for my projects. I love you all my supporters, I am humble and grateful for all your blessings and prayers. Now I quote. “creativity is adjacent to mental illness and overlaps with it substantially”.

@shiweidu Been profiling my lua interpreter all week and I've just accepted that it's just not possible to increase performance beyond a certain threshold in dart.

WASD is probably the worst-performing WASM runtime + WASI in the Dart ecosystem. But it's definitely the first pure Dart implementation of WASM/WASI 🤣

@shiweidu I have been playing around a lot lately with creating alternative an alternative httpserver that satisfies the same APIs but no dart:io. I suppose the same approach would work for a socket only approach, think you'd be limited by the socket APIs though pub.dev/packages/serve…

The only regret is that I wanted to build a socket-based HTTPServer without dart:io two years ago, but I haven't achieved that yet. Maybe I will in the future. The package name is `any`, and perhaps it will be implemented in the future.

Chris Lattner wants to fix Python with Mojo. The goal makes sense, but the glaring problem is that supporting dynamic typing automatically slows the language down Rust is roughly what you get when you strictly type Python and optimise for performance

Everybody is willing to get their visa as Prime Minister or President taken away. BUT, they have no Cuban doctors and nurses working there, and some are about to leave office. So this is all hypothetical theater and drama. Nobody is talking about ordinary citizens going to the Embassy and getting turned away like we JUST SAW IN COLOMBIA. And the State Department just issued a “reconsider travel” notice for tourist-dependent Jamaica. Not one of these leaders, however, is discussing the accusations of “forced labour”. Conveniently. We can support Cuba, vote for the 40 year embargo to end AND still say that forced labour is wrong. Just because we benefited from it during the pandemic doesn’t all of a sudden make it right. Make sure you don’t support Cuba so much that you become them, especially in an increasingly unstable foreign policy environment where the US has the handle and we have the blade. Principles are imperative, but they don’t fry up well for breakfast. Walk good.
