The miraculous resurrection of Raphael Tuju from the safety of his own living room is a masterclass in political cowardice. After a choreographed nationwide panic over "mean-looking men," his safe emergence from his own front door exposes a pathetic, low-budget skit. If you take a look at the attached headlines, hii ni mchezo wa taon, sio mapya jijini!
This is a cold-blooded weaponization of the genuine trauma of abductions, used as a cheap prop to manufacture incitement in a narrative that shows insecurity. It is a cynical performance that mocks the gravity of national security for the sake of a headline, proving that for these political mercenaries, a simulated kidnapping is just another day at the office.
Tumewaonea mbali!

If you’ve ever seen Nigerian wedding clips where a bride sits on her father-in-law’s lap and wondered why, it’s actually a meaningful cultural tradition among the Edo and Esan communities.
In this ritual, the bride sits on her father-in-law’s (or sometimes the groom’s) lap several times—often seven, a number symbolizing completeness and perfection. Each sit represents her transition from her own family into her husband’s family.
The father-in-law stands as a symbol of the entire family, and by welcoming her in this way, he is offering their collective blessing. He then presents her to the groom, sometimes followed by the bride sitting on the groom’s lap to conclude the ceremony.
At its core, the ritual represents acceptance, unity, and respect. While it may seem unusual to outsiders, it is a deeply symbolic way of honoring family, heritage, and the beginning of a new life.
