It's a huge red flag if an article defends the supposed success of solar/wind by comparing the "capacity" of batteries with the capacity of nuclear plants. A battery lasts for a few hours. A nuclear plant goes for 1-2 years straight after refueling!

We need to have data centers. I don't know what else to tell you. We should have them without eminent domain or tax breaks or other forms of corporate welfare. But we are going to have them.

So the neurotic finger waggers really went from "REPEALING NET NEUTRALITY WILL RUIN STREAMING AND THE INTERNETS REEEEEEEE" to "WE NEED A MORATORIUM ON DATA CENTERS" without a hint of irony, huh

Sometimes I make so much food for myself, that I end up throwing some of it away instead of finding a hungry person to give it to. Nothing wrong with that, but the effort to defend the petty thief is often done to pave the way for wide scale looting that begins with easy targets.

Why are ethical questions always like, ‘Is it ethical to steal bread to feed your starving family?’ and not, ‘Is it ethical to hoard bread while families are starving?

"In reality, all U.S. data centers combined account for less than one half of one percent of the country’s freshwater use. Google’s thirstiest facility, in Iowa, uses approximately what some golf courses do." - @washingtonpost

@DastDn An impression I got from watching the CBS debate was that the Democrat candidates are not too proud and enthused about the state of California. They know there are big problems, and likewise cannot spike the football over the last 16 years of Democrat dominance in the state.

I'm paying zero attention to the elections in California, I have to admit. The stakes are pretty much nonexistent. Democrats will win everything, terribleness will continue. Single-party states are bad. Film at 11.

Holy moral panic, Batman! Also, we should take these people up on their tacit offer & build nuclear power plants everywhere. That would certainly reduce the energy issue regarding data centers!
The Washington Post@washingtonpost

A Gallup poll found that seven out of 10 Americans said they would oppose a data center being built near them. Opposition is so intense, the poll found, that more Americans would rather live near a nuclear power plant than a data center. wapo.st/48ZtSpE

@seanhalfcourt I was just thinking to myself, there’s a lot of debate over whether or not to extend Duren, meanwhile Tobias it out here earning a fat payday.

Being anti-building could completely derail Pratt's campaign on an issue where he should be wiping the floor with Bass & Raman
The All-In Podcast@theallinpod

Spencer Pratt: I will empower architects and builders to make LA beautiful again. “ We're going have LA so beautiful. No more of these high-density, SB-79, prison-like structures. We need to bring Art Deco back. All the architects that moved out of here because it was so hard to build, takes eight years, they're going to be moving back, because we're going to speed up building. It's not going to take eight years. I talked to an architect today, one of the most famous architects in the world. He has a crew of 12 architects, they already did all these designs for these buildings and nobody listened to them. They met with Newsom, they met with Bass. Of course I'm like, “Let's do it, send me over the decks.” And then the YIMBY people, they can have all their bike lanes going through the sky, through tunnels. “We need LA to be the most beautiful architecture in the world.” @friedberg @spencerpratt --------------------------------------- Thanks to our partner Axon.ai for making this possible Most advertisers have never heard of the platform with an $11B annual run rate in ad spend. Years ago when innovation made fracking more affordable, anti-American activists who wanted to kill the energy boom started claiming fracking caused flaming tap water, even tho there was no connection at all. Much of the Data Center hysteria is just this tactic repackaged
