Louisiana, amongst MANY states, does not consider a man beating you to be a threat worthy of lethal force. Ive been part of the coalition trying to pass legislation to stop survivors of DV for being sent to prison for DEFENDING THEMSELVES for years now with the Justice for Survivors Act. Women who kill men are sentenced MORE HARSHLY than men who kill women. It is a statistical fact.

Remember that for anyone to check that your work was written by AI using AI, they will have to feed your original text into AI, and that text entered into AI models can become part of the training data. So these weird vigilantes are in fact only part of the problem. I think writers need to start pushing pack by clearly demanding that their work not be fed into AI checkers without their permission. If you make a submission to a publisher or organisation you can say: I do not give permission for my work, in part or in full to be fed into any AI model, whether for the purpose of analysis, fact checking or AI-use detection. Because if you want to become a virtue signalling anti-AI vigilante you do not get to use AI as your cudgel.

Do not use AI. I will use AI to check if you used AI, then I will post the results of my use of AI to discover your use of AI and shame you for it. What utter stupidity.

Humans spent centuries writing books, essays, articles, and research papers. Then we used all that human writing to train AI systems to write like humans. Then we built another AI system to inspect the writing and say, “This looks AI suspiciously.” So now we have one machine trained on humans to sound human, and another machine trained on humans to figure out whether the first machine sounds a little too human. And after all that, a stressed human still has to make the final call.
