I love Spoon with all my heart, I've been following her for a long time and I miss her fanarts... especially the kekkai sensen...

(this privilege argument interests me & I wanted to add on to my moots' points... but I can't willingly join a convo w one of #them lol) saying Jo shouldn’t be chosen bc he’s 'privileged' collapses the entire story into a false fairness scale. Having family doesn’t equal a perfect life & assuming that flattens Jo into a stereotype instead of reading what’s actually shown. At the same time, reducing TJ to 'underprivileged' protects him from his own choices. Background matters, it shapes people and explains patterns but using it to excuse harm is still just an excuse. Ian & Jason both show that. Their lives weren’t easy but that doesn’t erase the impact of what they chose to do. If you actually look at their actions, the difference isn’t subtle. Jo’s presence is defined by care, attention & initiative that doesn’t depend on control or obligation. He meets Ian where he is, adapts to him & treats him like someone worth understanding (& tbh Jo showed Ian a lot of grace, more than what his treatment of Jo warranted at times if we're being real). That’s what draws Ian in & also scares him bc it’s something he isn’t used to & doesn’t fully believe he’s allowed to have. TJ, on the other hand, repeatedly makes choices that keep Ian tied to him, not just emotionally but thru debt, danger & dependency. His love is intense but it’s structured around possession & maintaining access, not releasing Ian or prioritizing his wellbeing. Even when awareness shows up, it doesn’t undo the pattern that was built. Framing this as privilege vs struggle misses the point entirely. Jo’s freedom doesn’t come from privilege, it comes from who he chose to be. He worked thru himself instead of pushing that weight onto someone else. He learned how to face things, how to stay & how to care without turning it into control. When he loved Ian, he didn’t bind him or ask for anything in return. He showed him a kind of love that wasn’t measured by debt or sacrifice, but by presence, attention, and choice. That’s what made it feel unreal to Ian, not because it was undeserved, but because it was the first time he was being loved without conditions. If you put it on a scale of impact, Jo’s side is weighted by consistent care after falling in love (without intent to harm), while TJ’s is weighted by choices that caused damage & created dependence (& I can see it began as more of a pure desire but as a whole, TJ admitted that he used Ian's struggles with morality to his personal advantage). That imbalance has nothing to do with time or privilege. It comes directly from what each of them chose to do.

This is the first I’m seeing this and I agree! The eros to agape idea doesn’t really fit TJ, esp. using the biblical meaning of agape. His love never becomes fully selfless, there are always conditions tied to keeping Ian. It stays intense, attached & driven by not wanting to lose him rather than letting him go. & without honesty or real atonement, avoiding it doesn’t erase the past where he actively sabotaged someone who was supposed to be his family just to keep him indebted. If anything, there’s a stronger case for TJ as a Byronic, Heathcliff type character. Interesting post :)

#Wetsand I feel like this is the first time I’ve seen a love triangle where the “endgame”… is the emptiest character out of the three. And I’m not saying this out of hate, I’m saying it because if you actually look closely, it’s very obvious. In Jo’s case, we saw everything. His mother, his father, his brother, his aunt, his cousins, his friends… basically his entire circle. We even saw Ian interact with them, spend time with them, become part of that space. There was a direct connection between the protagonist and Jo’s world. In Ian’s case, there was also development. We were shown his mother, their dynamic, his background… even small details like Guillaume (his mother’s boyfriend). We saw how he grew up, where he comes from, what shaped him. But in TJ’s case… what do we actually have? We don’t even know who his parents were. We don’t know their names. We don’t know what really happened with the accident. His adoptive family is mentioned… but never shown. There’s no real development, no depth, no context. And that’s what’s shocking. Because even side characters have more structure: Jason, for example, has a brother (Big boss), a wife (Suji), a son (Jihu), a niece (sumin)… But the character who ends up being the “endgame” feels empty. And it’s not just about family. We didn’t even get real remorse. There was no genuine apology. No honest conversation. No moment where you truly felt like “okay, he understands what he did.” Everything felt rushed. Vague. Surface-level. So you can’t help but ask… why give so much weight, so much development, and so much emotional connection to other characters… if the one who ends up staying doesn’t have that same depth? Why build so much around Jo? Why make Ian connect with his entire world… if that wasn’t the final path? It’s strange. And the more you analyze it… the emptier it feels. And that’s the most impactful part: it’s not a small detail… it’s a huge gap that completely changes how the ending is perceived.

ian staying with his abuser bc he loved him before it and had a past with him… its giving emotional abuse and sunk cost fallacy at the same time and yet #they frame it as romance… hm…

RIP to all the characters I didn't have problems with but their fans are so fucking annoying that I start to hate that character.

Many fans never consider the mental state of Ian that is why many also never consider him TJ's victim. Bcs in their books TJ never abuse Ian.
