My son just turned 18.
He got his first job, his first girlfriend, and apparently his first lesson in how expensive dating can be.
He took her out on their first date and paid for everything.
She didn’t offer to contribute, which he noticed immediately.
Now he wants to see her again, but he came to me and asked, “How do I tell her I can’t keep paying for everything?”
I had to stop myself from laughing because my baby is out here learning in real time that romance and a part-time paycheck do not always cooperate.
I told him to keep it simple.
Just say, “I’d love to see you again, but I need to keep things budget-friendly.”
If she’s reasonable, she’ll understand.
Maybe they choose cheaper dates.
