But that's this year. For future years, when there is expected to be more slack in the economy, the platform optimistically pencils in a multiplier of as much as .... 1.2. And these are short-run multipliers. In the long run, the multiplier is likely to be closer to zero. That is, the initial dollar in spending is fully offset over time by crowding out, import leakage, Ricardian equivalence etc. Indeed, in some circumstances there is evidence that it can even produce negative multipliers.
