@scasswriting These are mostly older titles, with a couple exceptions. I feel like the rules around mg "tightened" around 2010 and only now are they starting to loosen again. (For example, my debut The Unicorn Quest originally had a 14 year old protagonist but I was told to age her to 11).

One of my sisters is a librarian and she's on a very specific hunt for lower YA/upper MG fantasy that bridges the gap between true middle grade and young adult/older YA. So, suitable for 13-16 year olds. Any recommendations would be so welcome! 🫶

@kkbenko I am endlessly confused by Netflix insistence on making older titles into series. Why not make, say, THE UNICORN QUEST into a series?

In search of a fantasy series to read to my 11yo and 8yo this summer! Trilogy or longer, doesn't have to be well-known but can be, faster-paced to keep 8yo on board.

@babbymd Not the latest 5-star book I've read, but Our Crooked Hearts by Melissa Albert is fantastic -- still magic (contemporary witches!) even if it's not faerie. <3 (But if you want MORE faeries...Emily Wilde books!)
