A stage name is literally part of a K-Pop idol’s identity. It follows them throughout their entire career, and many idols have built strong branding around their stage names. Stage names are also important for hashtag trends, data tracking, and showing the scale and impact of a fandom’s support for their idol. That’s why K-pop fandoms trend hashtags during important events. When Sakura first debuted with LE SSERAFIM, her stage name was changed from her full birth name to Sakura. This already limited her data visibility because “Sakura” is associated with flowers, anime characters, and many other things online. She basically had to rebuild her recognition from zero, since many people didn’t know Sakura from LE SSERAFIM is Miyawaki Sakura. And now HYBE and Source Music are using her stage name for another girl. This situation is even more severe because they are both under HYBE. HYBE was able to change the stage names of three male idols who shared the same birth name, but apparently not Sakura’s. We have every right to be upset and to protect her identity. Her stage name will now constantly be mixed up with that girl, making the situation I mentioned earlier even worse. And to the Fearnots who proudly call themselves group stans and OT5. If you can’t say anything reasonable or protect Sakura, then just shut up. Stop showing your hypocritical side every single time mistreatment happens and blaming us for reacting. Who knows what HYBE is planning to do with these duplicated stage names? After all the nasty things they’ve already done to her, this could easily turn into another dirty marketing tactic like putting her name next to that girl’s for attention or even worse. This is a serious situation that could harm Sakura’s reputation, and we are raising our voices to protect her.

whenever i praise jyp or sm groups, no one calls me a company stan, but the moment it’s hybe groups, suddenly everyone gets mad and calls me a hybe stan. it just proves that a lot of y’all hide your dislike for certain groups behind performative hatred for the company.
