Don’t use my video to justify you using an anti Black slur.
This is one of the things I kinda hated about my video “blowing up”. There’s always that nonblack audience that thinks that watching Black Video Essays gives them an opinion on Black issues. “This Black Guy said so!”

@STAR4CUTTER @rebirthredeem @femdas_ I’m honestly just pulling points from this video. Made by a black man. Really strong video. m.youtube.com/watch?v=UPB9J3…

redveil spoke about the way in which white meme culture attempts to reduce Black art to a punchline, stripping it of the depth and intention behind it.
In an interview with Deeeemurph of @Mabfield_, redveil explains, "There's a long tradition of this dynamic with Black art across the world, where white people engage with it in an incomplete way…[the artists'] vulnerability, their emotions or whatever is just like a part of some big meme."
To further emphasize his point, @redveil draws on André 3000's lyric from @Outkast's "Hey Ya!"—"y'all don't wanna hear me, you just wanna dance."
