I remember an article from years ago. A woman took the works of Jane Austen, used a pen name, then submitted it to a shit load of lit agents. They all rejected it. Some of them, even told her that she had promise, but wasn't there yet. None of them identified that it was Pride and Prejudice. The publishing industry is trash 🗑.

Publishers say they want "fresh voices." What they mean is they want the exact same voice, but from someone who already has 200,000 followers so they don't have to do any actual marketing.
