@ProfShoff This hurts me. There was also a nursing professor at ULM who posted something about Trump and included a racial slur aimed at President Obama. She has two professions rolled into one that should never be racist (not that anyone should be).

To my students: do not stand for injustice. Use your talents and advantages to help those with less privilege. Always stand up for what is right. (And if your profession requires that you remain apolitical, set up a burner account to be your voice.)

Additionally, connection is still so important! Phone calls and video chats can help Ss get support they might not have at home and provide some normalcy in a time when school is anything but normal.

For 1:1 situations, please consider utilizing asynchronous learning opportunities like chunked videos of you teaching that can be accessed at any time and interactive activities like discussion forums or @Flipgrid videos that can happen when Ss have the time and ability to do so.

After a conversation I had, I feel the need to post this: engaging completely in synchronous learning online creates an #equity gap for Ss between those with reliable internet access and support at home and those without it.
