We’ve had rain and clouds for 3 days straight. In the 30 years I’ve lived here that’s happened maybe 8 times. The mountains are loaded up pretty good for mid May. Very fortunate. #Colorado

@HerazPhil @NYSport1994 @NASCAR it’s natural for people to want more information about unexpected deaths. They don’t have a right to know, but it’s not wrong for them to be curious. Making death mysterious and something not to be talked about isn’t helpful to society either.

@NYSport1994 @NASCAR Heart attack, aneurysm, stroke, etc. People die suddenly sometimes, it doesn't really matter what it was. The only people who deserve to have questions answered are his actual loved ones that are grieving. Knowing all the details doesn't really change anything for the rest of us

Under the new contract, what happens that milk on collection day? Does it need to be dumped on the farm at a huge loss, remember costs of production are 40c? If collected, does it qualify as grass fed or is it collected separately and dumped,sewer milk as it was called last night

Last night's MDPO meeting on the new contract was a lot angrier than the first meeting in Limerick a few weeks back. There's a lot of anger about dairy farmers threatening their neighbours that they'll not get their milk collected after August 4th unless the contract is signed.

@kmcsween That's pretty bad but it's the least problematic part of that contract. But you would assume somebody should have proof read it and spotted that clause specifically excludes women from giving 30 days notice of termination!

Clause 9.3 under Termination is a doozy. Leaving aside the surprising sexism involved in the clause, it was highlighted last night that this clause is actually a sterilisation clause. If you give 30 days written notice of stopping milk,say for illness,age or waiting for successor

so, she’s not imprisoned and can go wherever she wants whenever she wants? you didn’t rip her away from a family structure? did you spay her? I think you’re a hypocrite. My cows live very close to the life a pet lives. So, until you get rid of your pets, I’m not taking you seriously.

@kmcsween Hey Kevin. Luna is our canine family member. Rescued after abandonment. I love your addition of "fun" because she gets that freedom plus all of the others. We don't plan to remove her from her family, force AI on her, mutilate her or slaughter her either.

I always like to see my cows having fun. Some animal welfare experts claim the Five Freedoms of animal welfare is not adequate because it fails to mention “fun” in the requirements. I think “freedom to express natural behavior” includes fun. #fivefreedomsdairy

@kmcsween The "Five Freedoms" promise the freedom to express normal behaviours, plus freedom from injury, fear, distress, discomfort & pain. This means no forced artificial insemination, family separation, mutilation, fishing, imprisonment or slaughterhouses. So no animal agriculture.

I quit practice almost 6 years ago. They aren’t dealing with gov’t payors. But the prices have climbed so fast and high that many pet owners can’t afford it. And vets have to deal with euthanizing animals you could help. It’s mind torture for people that wanted to help animals. It’s why our suicide rate is so high

This graph tells a better story than the average. Almost immediately after graduation, doctors start quitting, and it drops at a continuous pace for 25 years. No plateau. Just continuous decay. Looks as bad as some of the survival curves in oncology! 20% are gone in 5 years! 5 years!! They train for 7 years after college and quit in less than that. They get out as soon as they can! That says one thing clearly - Graduating doctors are realizing that this is not what they signed up for The gaslighting during med school and residency fades fast in private practice. Doctors are not dumb.
