Assuming Piker is as bad as you believe, it is so revealing that you show none of the same disgust for the overwhelming majority of “leaders and lawmakers” who continue to support and facilitate Israel’s genocide, apartheid, and aggression. You are still posting smug gotchas about people who couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Harris because she was revoltingly complicit and cowardly. You called for nuance when people jumped on Newsom for saying he reveres Israel—while it goes on an unprecedented crime spree in the region and terrorizes the West Bank. We have seen “the very worst in human nature” recently, and Piker isn’t it by a long shot. The moral high ground you’re trying to stand on is quicksand.

There are 350,000,000 people in America. Surely we can find leaders and lawmakers who don’t cater to and elicit the very worst in human nature. We must learn this lesson before it’s too late.

“Old enough to count, old enough to mount.” Old footage of far-left influencer Hasan Piker expressing his views on young girls has resurfaced and gone viral following a rise in his popularity with mainstream Democrats.

The apartment where Muin Bseiso and Mahmoud Darwish wrote their joint poem "Letter to an Israeli Soldier" during the 1982 siege of Beirut, was bombed yesterday by the Israelis. Our siege is long.

“keeps striking Hezbollah,” as if we have not seen footage of Israel carpetbombing Lebanon—annihilating villages, leveling apartment buildings—with our own eyes. The extent to which @nytimes acts as a propaganda arm and apologist for Israel is old news, but it still astonishes.

Elad Lapidot: “I find it commendable when pro-Palestine solidarity activists insist on saying, ‘This is not against Jews. We are in solidarity with Jews and against antisemitism.’ Every time I hear it, I say to myself, ‘Wow. I find it remarkable that they continue to insist on this distinction. I don't know if I would be so strong.’”

In a matter of minutes israel bombed medical centers, a cemetery during a funeral, mosques, aid spaces, homes, and shops. There is something unbearable in how quickly it unfolds, how entire lives are shattered in an instant. It’s impossible to comprehend

What an incredible headline. Good that they’re calling what it is, but also you don’t need to explain what invasion means, we know. Just use the correct words.

Judge rules that 17-year-old Walid Ahmad likely starved to death in Israeli military detention, but closes the case anyway. Israel never charged him with a crime and still holds his body. Here’s how he died, as reported by his cellmate, 16-year-old American Mohammed Ibrahim:

Yes, I do think it's a bit of a "power fantasy" to think that Israeli Jews can be compelled to undo their own state. Even if it were just, it's completely implausible. And it's not just, because it would be profoundly undemocratic to force a group of people to dissolve their own state against their will.
David Polansky@polanskydj

@shadihamid I think your conclusion here (that there's no just way to follow through on some of these conclusions) indicates the way that a lot of these discussions are just power fantasies barely concealed by reference to human rights or what have you.

It’s extraordinarily well-documented that the Israeli gov’t funds, arms, protects, and collaborates w/ the most territorially ambitious West Bank settlers as part of its project of de facto annexation. Anyone calling for that same gov’t to now crack down is a disingenuous hack

Zohran did not launch his campaign with the tagline “no country has the right to exist as an ethnostate.” He has to keep saying it re: Israel because inexplicably it has been a de facto requirement to hold public office in the US to praise Israel’s racial hierarchy and he refuses
Jill Filipovic@JillFilipovic

Fair enough, but does anyone who makes this point every ague that Pakistan, Bangladesh, Algeria, Jordan, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iran, and a long list of others don't have a right to exist?
