The University of Dallas is poised to be the first college/university hosting a permanent convent for the Nashville-based Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. The congregation has witnessed remarkable growth of 64% since the year 2000, now comprising 300 sisters with a median age of 36. Engaged in education, they teach students from pre-school to college in over 30 schools across 18 dioceses. Internationally, their influence extends to Australia, Canada, Scotland, Italy, and the Netherlands. “There is a seismic shift happening in where Catholic families are sending their kids to college. Apart from a few Catholic elites (Georgetown, Boston College, etc.) most Catholic colleges that have abandoned Catholic identity are experiencing declining enrollment.
