A4- #nisdedchat I already see the benefits of SEL in my classroom and at my CAMPUS.... zero office referrals, stronger classroom management, & more responsible students who think before they act. I see the possible outcomes long reaching into the NISD way and it looks promising!

A2. One way I ensure my students needs are meet is by having them do a mood meter check as they walk in. Thanks to the idea of @mrsleticiaberry I know how my students day started before the tardy bell even rings! I then check in with ones who need it 🥰 #nisdedchat

A2- For example, my student told me they were at a 4 (frustrated)the other day, so he couldn't learn at a 4. Absolutely correct! If their needs aren't met, they can't learn. #NISDEdChat

A2: This is why you Maslow before they can Bloom. #NISDEdchat

A1~SEL is a tool for both children and adults to use in social interactions and to manage every day emotions -ex: social awareness, setting goals, and taking responsibility for oneself are imperative to maintaining healthy relationships and practicing self-care. #nisdedchat
