@Primal_Birth It is certainly not misogynistic to question the desire to ignore medical research in favor of some mysterious triumph of feminine identity rooted in suffering. I am not a choice feminist.

@kenzietuff Epidurals greatly reduce severe maternal morbidity, with protective effects increasing even more in higher risk groups

@knafaesque Yes, there are many health implications which is why we don’t get epidurals.

I try to be sympathetic to mistrust given the history of the healthcare system towards women, but healthcare is just one of dozens of areas where women justify and campaign for their own harm on a mass scale for no reason, and it infuriates me idc.

@kenzietuff I'm sure that counts for at least a few imaginary martyrdom points

@knafaesque Most of the women not using epidurals are also not slinging Tylenol at every minor pain.

@kenzietuff Yeah birth is a medical event (derogatory), that doesn't mean it's not meant to happen or it's unnatural, it means there are significant health implications. Why moralize this

@knafaesque If you actually cared about that and weren’t just signaling about it, you wouldn’t be referring to birth as a medical event. The call is coming from inside the house.

@naurpillled It's also a choice to wear a seatbelt and restrict your divine feminine movement and yet, there's an objective worse choice i'm sorry to report.

@knafaesque All the stats classes in the world can’t take away the fact that you believe women should be void of or talked down to for a choice they make in the most vulnerable space of their entire life. They’re inviting me into it while you are bashing them on socials. We are not the same

@knafaesque I’m literally in school for this, not only have I researched it but I have also lived it & witnessed over 300 births of all kinds. You are actually choosing to be extremely daft. Do better.

@naurpillled You're very close, now look at the frequency and severity of benefits vs frequency and severity of risks in a large enough sample size.

@knafaesque The risk/benefit analysis of ANYTHING in life (bc there are risks and benefits to both options) is going to be a very personal decision taking into account people’s own lived experiences. Ur being very dense by just willfully ignoring that to try and prove a point

Ladies you can just get an epidural and lie about it. Just tell everyone you had a "natural" birth and it hurt a lot but it was an ancient pain you enjoyed or whatever.

@naurpillled There's this little thing called data. They can make the choice but it's not supported by evidence idk what to tell u! It's anti woman coded to be happy for women to suffer/ risk their health for unconvincing reasons

@knafaesque I love how you’re just literally pretending like there’s no benefit at all from not choosing to have an epidural. Also ignoring the women giving legitimate reasons why they chose what they did or discounting them bc they didn’t make the same choices you did. Very anti women coded

a mother’s relationship to their baby is kind of like God’s relationship to man—some part of me is always reaching for my child and some part of him is always reaching for me
