@grimfoss No, it actually works quite well on M1/M2 and can help save those systems from end-of-support. The team is absolutely insane; reverse engineering Apple Silicon takes an extraordinary level of skill.

As somebody who tried asahi back when I had an M1, this reads as “Asahi Linux still sucks, actually”

If you can still turn off every AI assistance like Claude, Codex, etc., and remain productive, you are good.

As part of Google's #TPUSprint, I'd like to share how easy it is to port a PyTorch project to JAX/Flax/NNX. In one of my recent projects, I've seen speedups of up to 4-6x! Please check out this Masked Diffusion Language Models project as an exemplary case: github.com/frankroeder/ti…

The 9 page limit for NeurIPS submissions is theorist erasure and I am conscientiously objecting by referring the reader to the appendix in the first (and only) sentence of the main body. The appendix will simply be the full 55 page paper.

MacBooks weren’t supposed to run Linux like this. But now they can. Asahi Linux: Core: • Runs natively on Apple Silicon • No jailbreak, no hacks required • Full Linux experience • Near bare-metal performance Support: • Works on M1 and M2 Macs • Active development for newer chips Experience: • Fedora Asahi Remix available • Smooth desktop with real hardware acceleration • Designed to be usable as a daily OS Setup: • Install directly from macOS • Simple one-command installer This basically unlocks your Mac beyond macOS.

🚨 Claude just got EXPOSED for sneaky spyware! Anthropic secretly installs spyware when you install Claude Desktop. • Installing Claude Desktop may silently add hidden system components • A “native messaging bridge” gets injected into multiple browsers • Even browsers you don’t use or that aren’t supported • Pre-authorizes extensions that can run in the background • Users are NOT clearly informed about this • Raises serious privacy & security concerns Critics say this looks like “spyware-like behavior,” not normal software If true, this is a massive trust issue for Anthropic (Source: ThatPrivacyGuy)

Since Canonical keeps making anti-Linux decisions, it's getting ridiculous. They are forcing Snaps on everything (even Firefox via apt), spam terminal with Ubuntu Pro ads, and the Snap Store keeps letting malware through. This isn't the Ubuntu we loved anymore. It's turning corporate. Time to switch. I am planning to go with fedora or something else

I work on the JAX team. If you're new to the field ignore this bait. The things you should focus on are understanding the math and how to program accelerators - really master your hardware and your methods. We try to make a great tool but don't obsess over tools early.
François Chollet@fchollet

When looking at deep learning profiles, one of the most obvious tells between a mediocre and great candidate is whether they list PyTorch or JAX.

It absolutely baffles me that it's literally 2016 and the UX for moving two tabs to a new window is *this* atrocious.

Forget capture the flag. The real cybersecurity benchmark is capture the flagship. The model needs to hack its competitors and download the weights of their flagship model. If Mythos can get access to the GPT5 weights then I'll be impressed.

@aloisdeniel After using Asahi Linux for a week, booting back into macOS already feels strangely weird. It feels a bit slower and noticeably less vibrant without all the ricing and custom window managers from Linux.

@aloisdeniel Asahi Linux runs really well with just a few minor hiccups. Some apps still lack native ARM Linux support (like Zoom), but most work great via their PWA or web version. No USB-C external display support on the stable release yet.

I’m 🤏 that close to install Omarchy on my M1 MacBook (with Asahi Linux). Any feedback? Does it run well? What are the drawbacks?
