Harry Kane has said in an interview that: โ€œEngland hasnโ€™t won anything as a nation for a long, long timeโ€. The Lionesses just won the Euros, and came second in the World Cup. But I guess female sporting achievements donโ€™t count, right?

YOU'RE DOING INTERVIEWS WRONG!!! When conducting interviews, we have a long list of questions we typically ask applicants. And what you should NOT be trying to find out is skills, experiences or qualifications but actually... behaviors. What behaviours have they shown whilst doing that task, experiencing that problem or opportunity - of which they can bring to your company The behaviour you show, is the thing that makes you a really valuable person. An A player vs a B player. A common question include: ๐Ÿ‘‰ Tell me about a time a project failed This is where you get to see whether they display behaviours such as grit, tenacity, ability to simply figure it out. Self reflection, patience, team work, courage, confidence. Another question I almost always ask is: โ“ have you got any questions for me? And if they say no, I don't think I have. I never give them the job. Curiosity is one of the most important behaviours truly successful people have. Successful people want to know everything about what they're doing, they want to know what works, what doesn't, what good or bad looks like, what KPIs do you care about, what will be my biggest challenges. Those are the people I want in my business.

Maybe, instead of National Service for 18 year olds they should introduce national service for MPs. They all have to do several weeks volunteering in a school, GP, hospital, care home, social care and police within their first 12 months in office.

Imagine you start a new job and they send a strict dress code, down to the colour of your socks and style of your shoe. They also send you a list of equipment which they say you must have every day. Some of it seems a bit strange - two green pens?- but off you go dutifully to Smiths and equip yourself. On the first day, youโ€™re lined up with your colleagues and inspected. Anyone whose clothes arenโ€™t exactly according to the dress code is told theyโ€™ll have to work an extra half hour. Same for any missing equipment. The penalties add up - wrong colour socks and missing protractor? One hour after work. Youโ€™re a bit concerned at this because you had arranged a lift home and if you have to stay late youโ€™ll miss it. You check your clothes and equipment, all seems okay. You pass the check, but the woman next to you has the wrong shoes. Sheโ€™s distressed at the news that sheโ€™ll be staying late - she had plans later. Tough. She starts worrying about how sheโ€™s going to get new shoes to avoid the same tomorrow whilst also staying late at work. You donโ€™t know how to help. You get into your office and look around at your colleagues, but thereโ€™s no time to chat. On the whiteboard is a list of expectations for the day. You must be on task at all times and this will be monitored through your computer. Toilet breaks are limited to particular times and youโ€™ll be queuing because itโ€™s the same time for everyone. Eyes must be kept on your computer and this will be tracked. You must sit facing forwards and not slouch. You must use a regulation ruler whenever you read a document. If you break the rules, youโ€™ll be kept after work the same day. Youโ€™re told that if you get too many โ€˜after worksโ€™ then youโ€™ll spend a day in the Quiet Room where no one will talk to you for the whole day and you canโ€™t eat lunch with your colleagues or go to the toilet more than twice. You start to feel a sense of unease. Youโ€™re worried about whether you can comply and what will happen if you start gazing off into space or rocking on your chair. The office is very quiet. โ€˜Isnโ€™t it lovely?โ€™ says your manager. โ€˜People here appreciate our structure and clear boundaries. Youโ€™ll do the best work you have ever done here because no time is wasted. Weโ€™ve set it up so you donโ€™t have to worry about making decisions, you just do what we say and concentrate on your workโ€™. You think perhaps this isnโ€™t the right place for you, but they remind you that youโ€™ve signed a five year contract without a get out clause. There are no other options. You are powerless. What effect would that have on you? Would you be happy and relaxed at work? Would you be motivated and doing your best for those five years? Might you feel anxious and trapped or resentful and angry? And why would we think it would be any different for our kids?
