Summer Holiday. Artist: Olga Suvorova (Russian, b. 1966, St. Petersburg), 2015. Private collection. Medium: Oil on canvas.
Suvorova was born in Leningrad in 1966 into a multi-generational family of painters. Her father, Igor Suvorov, holds the state-awarded title of "Honored Artist of the RSFSR."
Suvorova studied painting and monumental composition in the studio of the renowned academician Andrei Mylnikov at the Repin Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, graduating in 1998. The influences she's focused on most throughout her career include Gustav Klimt's decorative surfaces, Piero della Francesca's volumetric serenity, and the color palette of Byzantine iconography. While these three sources might seem completely different, they're the foundation of the balance in Suvorova's paintings: her figures are both realistic and decorative, and her scenes are both historical and contemporary.
Suvorova's work quickly gained recognition in St. Petersburg. She held a solo exhibition at the Repin Academy in 1990 and won first prize in the Russian Union of Artists' annual competition in 1993. Today, her pieces are in private collections across the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, China, and Russia.
Finally, I'd like to draw your attention to a specific detail in the artwork. From the Renaissance onward, and especially in 17th-century Dutch still lifes, a caged bird usually represents a trapped soul, lost freedom, or lost innocence. The cat is the hunter; it symbolizes death at the door, sin, or the inevitable end. In this painting, Suvorova takes this heavy "death-freedom" burden and distills it into a calm, ordinary summer afternoon.

HRT literally makes us biologically female
Dev@sleepy_devo
nobody reasonable actually thinks that trans women metamorphose into biological females you fucking retard. the ask is not "believe that men are women", it's "don't be an asshole". you don't have to like trans people. you do have to leave them alone.

What a way to end what turned out be a rather gorgeous Spring day here in Glasgow! This was the view down the Clyde from the Squinty Bridge at sunset this evening.

This guy speaks so much sense and he genuinely wants to help YOU, he's not at the whim of cronies & donors.
Clearly the Tabloids will try and destroy him before the next general election...but don't believe their tripe, believe the GREEN hype...'cos it's on...it's genuinely ON!

A relatively stripped-back Art Deco style bank building on Hyndland Road in the West End of Glasgow. Built in 1934, it was created by James Mclachlan.
