🚨 Do you understand what's happening right now..
Iran just rejected the ceasefire.. and the market went UP..
read that again..
a country said "no" to peace.. and Wall Street celebrated.. because the rejection confirmed that talks are actually happening.. same playbook as China last year..
> Iran says no to keep oil prices high.. the US leaks "progress" to keep them low.. both sides are performing for the market while 3,000 more troops ship to the Middle East..
> nobody in that room wants peace.. they want leverage.. Iran wants $100 oil.. the US wants a headline before earnings season.. and the market is trading the theater not the war..
your portfolio is green today because two governments agreed to pretend they're negotiating..
war isn't the risk.. the performance ending is..

@ShaiDavidai “Raj Żydów” or “Еврейская автономная область” or “America”. Why do Jews want to live somewhere they’re not welcome?

And where will the Jews live, Nadira?

This is the only two-state solution I believe in.

@noahkaufmanmd @andyjschoonover @ThinkingAtheist If religion is judged by its worst outcomes, then science and medicine must be judged by theirs too. By that standard, science and medicine have killed at least as many people (arguably far more) precisely because they were trusted.

OK so being honest here I’ve taken many philosophy religion courses and I actually have looked fairly deeply into this. Not verbatim Bible contradictions or meanings however…
I guess the problem I have is that religions have been responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths, and there is some level of indoctrination. That worries me because religions seem to be more like a cult and people are so deep in their beliefs that they are willing to kill others or hurt others for their beliefs.
So I don’t think it’s really like the bitcoin proposition. Bitcoins don’t want to kill anyone. But religious people do. And have. Many genocides have been caused by religions. So I guess when I see people posting and for some reason it shows up in my feed, it can feel like it would be worth it to make people question that police system which unfortunately has caused violence in the world.
Obviously they’re incredibly good people who are wholesome and caring like yourself and others… but I have a real problem when belief systems can lead to violence or pain and suffering in the world.
But I hear what you’re saying, and I’m probably not making any sort of a difference so it’s just antagonistic and you’re not wrong, Andy.
Maybe it’s a good question for me to think about personally about why I feel strongly enough to even engage when I see religious posts… I think sometimes it just bothers me that people are so incredibly sure that their world view is correct. So if they believe in God or some sort of religion, if somebody doesn’t then somehow that person is a heathen or going to hell or something else and it can create a real and dangerous sentiment that they are correct and other people are incorrect and somehow the enemy.
I think it’s such a taboo subject that people are really allowed to say that they believe in God or Christianity or Jesus or Mohammed or whatever but it’s difficult and limiting if you don’t believe those things because you don’t feel the same freedom because you feel judged and somehow less important or valuable in the eyes of believers who pity you.
I think that’s always just been something that really bothers me.
I have no belief system, never have and it’s weird that people feel sorry for me for that. Like I feel sorry for them for being trapped by a belief system that just seems like nonsense.
I don’t know.
Maybe it’s because this is a digital public social forum, that if someone is openly advocating a belief system, it should be a safe place for others to question that system if they don’t believe in it, and especially if they think that it is potentially dangerous.
In my eyes, religion has done far more harm than good in the world. There’s ~4000 religions, and I don’t really distinguish between them, some are less dangerous, and some might even be good. That doesn’t change the fact that religion is one of the prime dividers in the world and a cause of great suffering and pain and murder at scale.
I think that’s the difference I see between bitcoin and religion or fervent belief in a God or gods…
I’m not even an atheist. I have no idea if there’s a God or not. But that’s just it, I think the only logical position to hold in this reality is that we have no idea what is going on.
I think it’s reasonable to be angry about the total of history which includes many bloody examples of “the sword or the cross.”

@VividProwess With how many people Israel labels a terrorist—HELL no.
But maybe… since most of the Likud party would cease to exist!

You’ve obviously never had to use that shock collar to train a dog. That yelp/jolt is exactly what happens when the voltage is high enough for serious correction.
I don’t care what his words say, the clip alone explains enough.
He should have checked on the paw if he honestly thought the yelp was from pain (it wasn’t) OR shown that the collar was only a vibration collar right away (clearly it wasn’t)
Sigh
English

@Xavier012813358 @knockamoto @dancantstream @BoxLoner If you can back that up I'd be shocked. I've seen him say the collar is vibration only. I've not seen him claim that is why the dog yelped.
