Let's talk about the market and what's happened over the past 72 hours and which metrics you should be watching: Jackson Hole Meeting ✅ Aug 22nd - At the recent Jackson Hole meeting in Wyoming, Jerome Powell nearly confirmed rate cuts in September due to a "weaker labor market" and announced he was "flexible" on policy. This is huge. The last time the Fed was flexible on policy was during COVID whenever we had a massive injection of stimulus. i.e The money printer will turn on. I'm expecting some bullishness the first week of September as people start to front-run the rate cuts. ETF Flows ✅ Aug 22nd - Last Friday, BTC had -23mil of outflows while ETH had 337M of inflows. This further solidifies the institutional interest of ETH over BTC. I'll be very interested to see this week's ETF flows and if we continue the pattern. BTC - farside.co.uk/btc/ ETH - farside.co.uk/eth/ Reason for the drop ✅ Aug 24th - A Bitcoin whale sold 24,000 BTC worth over $2.7 billion, causing yesterday’s -$4,000 crash in minutes. They still hold 152,874 BTC worth more than $17 billion (x.com/BTC_Archive/st…). This will undoubtably cause a lot of negative pressure over the next few days (which is exactly what we're seeing now). One thing to note is that whale invested that capital into ETH, which they subsequently staked on Hyperliquid. This is further proof that whales and institutions are flowing out of BTC and into ETH. Liquidations The past 24 hours have seen nearly 1B of liquidations which is historically the number we look for when identifying a local bottom within 1-3 days. Either this will present a dead cat bounce or actually mark the bottom. I'll discuss the levels I'm watching below. Most of the liquidity has already been taken to the downside on the 24H and 1W heatmap which means we should see some type of bounce soon. Bitcoin Analysis 📊 BTC is starting to approach areas of interest between 108-110k, although the thing I don't like is how it closed the weekly below its major trendline support. Because of that, we could see one more flush to 104k but I'm still DCAing here as the R/R is too good to pass up. We also have the StochRSI getting closer to oversold which will provide some nice runway for a move higher once momentum flips. Ethereum Analysis 📊 ETH on the other hand has been showing relative strength towards BTC until recently. It's approaching its major support near 4300 with further support at 4060 and 3830 (trendline support). Although you can see how its weekly indicators don't look as good vs BTC (StochRSI and RSI are overbought). This could cause some chop in the near future before a further rise, although I am still DCAing at 4300 here. Bitcoin Dominance + USDT Dominance BTC.D reached major support on the weekly at 57.80% which is the main reason for the alt flush. The StochRSI is oversold while the RSI is crossing to the upside. The next resistance is 59%, followed by major resistance at 60.40%. This means we could see more chop with alts for a few more days before they start outperforming again. USDT.D recently broke above its weekly resistance of 4.50% while its StochRSI is oversold (now crossing to the upside), and the RSI is currently crossing above its signal line. This means that people are taking a flight to safety into stables. If we close above 4.50% on the weekly, the next resistance is 4.64% with the next major resistance at 5.15%. If we reach that, alts will take a beating. I'm still expecting a few more days of chop until then. Upcoming Events - Aug 28th Jobless Claims & US GDP - Aug 29th PCE Index and Consumer Sentiment - Sep 17th FOMC Meeting Summary ✍️ This is the time where you exercise patience. The urge to catch a falling knife is strong here, and while I do recommend DCAing at these levels (108-110k BTC and 4300 and 4060 ETH), we will still have volatility. Various metrics are pointing to a bottom soon which is why I'm DCAing. The MMs love to extract liquidity and that's exactly what we're seeing. Most of it has been wiped to the downside. Now begins the slow chop before finding a bottom and starting the impulse move to the upside. Remember to not get emotional during times like these. The market is structured to make you revenge trade as much as possible. Instead, focus on the data and only react when the R/R is on your side. We still have plenty of catalysts ahead of us: ✅ ETH Staking ETF ✅ SOL ETF ✅ Rate cuts Sep 17th ✅ QT ending/QE starting ✅ US "accumulation plan" for the SBR ✅ Treasuries buying ETH and SOL ✅ CLARITY Act end of Sep ✅ Q4 Rally These are just a few catalysts, but show there is still plenty to look forward to. The US government is very keen on making crypto a household name. The WLFI launch is in September which should also bring back some hype into the market with a wealth effect afterwards. Until then, manage risk accordingly and only bid at major support levels on the daily/weekly timeframes when your indicators are in confluence (near oversold) and sentiment/liquidity levels align 🤝
