I want to say something that might be uncomfortable for many international OhOhs, but I feel like it needs to be said. Not because I want to control anyone’s thoughts or actions, but because these are things that have helped the Thai KNP fandom become stronger, with very few weak points for others to attack.
1. Mentioning other artists or fandom names is one of the most frustrating things. Many times, we feel it’s unfair and that boundaries are being crossed toward us and our artists. But something Thai fans have strongly upheld, almost like a strict rule, is to never mention any other artist or fandom by name. Even if it might seem harmless, not mentioning them at all is better. We never know who might be lurking in spaces or what their intentions are. When you don’t mention names, even when responding publicly, it leaves no openings that can be used against you. If you haven’t started doing this, you should start now. Be patient with all kinds of provocation, both public and private, even if it feels difficult. If everyone gradually reduces and stops, you will become stronger as a fandom.
2. Do not tag or mention any artist to make them take responsibility for their fans’ actions. Artists are not involved in any way. Just because some fans behave badly does not mean artists should acknowledge or take responsibility for it. No artist should have to apologize for fans who lack basic manners and sense.
3. Do not mention or quote tweet other artists’ posts with rude or disrespectful language.
4. Do not bring other artists into criticism, no matter what the situation is. The same rule applies, do not mention names. Because if you cross a line, the first ones affected will be the artists shown on your profile or bio.ple. Do not act purely on emotions. Focus on what benefits the artist, not just personal satisfaction. When we exist in shared spaces, even if our accounts are personal, we are still part of a public environment. If we create or bring problems, others in that space are affected too.
5. Do not bring other artists into criticism, no matter what the situation is. The same rule applies, do not mention names. Because if you cross a line, the first ones affected will be the artists shown on your profile or bio.
6. Do not retweet or spread negative content about other artists or fandoms. The more you engage with it, the more the platform’s algorithm will feed it to you, and people in your community will start seeing and spreading it too, whether intentionally or not. You can fix this by selecting not interested or see less from this account. After doing this repeatedly around 10 to 20 posts, you will start seeing less of that content until you engage with it again.
These are the basic principles of coexisting and supporting artists. If you can follow just these six points, your fandom will become healthier. You will not have to worry about private conversations or negative things being exposed, because if we do not engage in harmful behavior, nothing will come back to harm us.
I do not know how useful this will be for international OhOhs, but based on what I have seen, I believe we can break this cycle and move in the same direction if we try together.
