It’s the Vols’ fourth SEC series victory, and now three of those are against Texas, Mississippi State, and Alabama. This is a squad that, when it plays well, can play with anyone. However, you often don’t know which version of the Volunteers you are getting when you roll up to the park. And Tennessee certainly isn’t alone in that regard. Eleven of the 16 SEC squads have between 11 and 16 wins. It’s a league packed with – choose your word – balance, parity, or, for those without a drawl, mediocrity. But underestimating a team like the one Tennessee has shown against Texas over the last two games would be foolish. That team can win a regional. That team is not one any top seed is going to be excited to face – assuming other lower-ceiling opponents are available. -- For more:

AJ Russell was perfect in his 3 innings of work in his debut for Hub City. Russell came on in relief for Ismael Agreda and allowed 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and struck out 4 in his 3 innings of work. His fastball is the best on the entire farm in my opinion, and his command of it is quite impressive. It was an interesting set of circumstances that led to Russell pitching for Hub City today, as a fire in the visiting clubhouse last night caused the rest of this week’s games in Hickory to be cancelled. So to keep Russell on his start schedule, he made the trip to Spartanburg to pitch there today. Time will tell if Russell ends up staying up with Hub City or if he heads back down to Hickory when they hit the road next week, but honestly after a performance like that I don't know how you can't keep him with Hub City.
