OPEN LETTER FROM BEUS MALAYSIA
To: @sonraymusic | @livenationmy
Subject: Concerns Regarding Event Management and Hi-Touch Session Experience
We are writing to formally express concerns regarding the management and handling of the recent concert’s Hi-Touch and Hi-Bye benefit session. Many attendees paid a significant amount for these benefits, and unfortunately the overall experience did not meet the expectations that were promised to fans.
1. Excessive Physical Handling and Rushed Hi-Touch Session
Firstly, numerous fans experienced staff members being unnecessarily physical while rushing attendees through the line. This included pushing fans by their shoulders and waists during the Hi-Touch session. Due to how aggressively rushed the process was, some fans were barely able to interact with the artists at all despite having specifically purchased these benefits.
2. Inappropriate Venue Setup and Lighting Conditions
In addition, the Hi-Touch session was conducted outside the hall in a narrow and poorly lit corridor instead of on stage. Many fans were shocked to see staff already packing up the stage before they had even completed their benefit sessions. It was also allegedly stated by staff that despite lighting issues, the session would proceed “in the dark” rather than resolving the problem. This created an uncomfortable and disappointing environment for fans who had paid for this experience.
3. Rude Behaviour and Inappropriate Remarks from Staff
There were also multiple reports of rude behaviour and inappropriate remarks from staff members towards the fans. Some fans were allegedly called “weird” for purchasing multiple tickets, despite fans following the ticketing policies in order to support the event and the artists.
4. Mismanagement of Hi-Touch and Hi-Bye Benefits
Another issue involved confusion regarding benefit entitlements. Initially, ticket holders who owned multiple eligible tickets were only allowed to participate in the Hi-Touch and Hi-Bye sessions once, despite having paid for multiple benefits. This was only resolved after several fans stepped forward to confront staff regarding the matter. Situations like this should have been clearly managed and communicated beforehand to avoid unnecessary frustration and distress.
5. Differences in Treatment Compared to Other Countries
What makes this particularly disappointing is that attendees from other countries under the same tour and event organiser experienced significantly better treatment. Fans were able to enjoy their Hi-Touch benefits without being rushed, sessions were conducted on a properly lit stage, and interactions were handled in a far more organised and respectful manner.
6. Issues During Bag Inspection
Furthermore, during bag inspections, a fan reportedly had an official merchandise item confiscated despite it being official merchandise. Clearer communication and consistency regarding prohibited items would have been greatly appreciated.
7. Poor Time Management During Benefit Redemption
Fans also experienced extremely slow and disorganised time management during benefit redemption, which further contributed to the overall frustration surrounding the event experience.
As fans, many of us invested money, time, and effort to attend this event because we genuinely wished to support the artists and create meaningful memories. We fully understand the need for crowd control and efficiency. However, fans should still be treated with professionalism and respect.
We sincerely hope these concerns will be taken seriously and properly addressed to ensure better management and treatment of fans in future events.
