Not sure if I’m going to watch episodes 4-6 that cover Y2. I was on it for the story of my favorite game and Nishiki and was only disappointed by the losses and poor acting.

Not a single word at Kazama’s and Nishiki’s grave, no reminiscing, no love or respect for his found family. The only person who gets properly mourned is Yumi, and Haruka does the mourning for Kiryu. The emotional weight of the original games was dumbed down, hard.

Motomiya is such a bad actor omg Kiryu isn’t completely mute or emotionless… I’d say Kiryu is a surprisingly emotional guy despite being short-spoken and stoic. In the adaptation? Constant poker face. Barely flinches a single face muscle when his loved ones are dying before him.

Akiyama would love Nishiki so much and so earnestly that it wouldn't make the hustle unbearable for him. Besides, Akiyama could put Nishiki's heart in the right place with those morality tests he puts his clients through. It's an interesting what-if scenario to think about.

Could heal Nishiki's self-esteem lmao, because he would find himself in the position that Kiryu was to him. Nishiki would have a person who would be most likely remain a nobody without him. I see a hustling wife (Nishiki) and a deadbeat husband (Akiyama) kind of dynamic. But+

I'd say a solid 7! It's not something I often think about, but it has a lot of potential. Akiyama owes everything he has and the life he has built to Nishiki having scattered the 10 billion, and, if the latter survived, he could become Akiyama's object of adoration. In a way, it+

Instead of being anxious about reuniting with an old friend who changed completely and anticipating it, Motomiya’s Kiryu acts like he is being forced to see him and wants it be over as soon as possible when they actually meet. “This fucking guy, eww”. So much for game accuracy…

I’m genuinely upset at how indifferent he was to Nishiki when their reunion was supposed to be an emotionally charged encounter for them both. It could be a translation thing, but the insults “Kiryu” threw at Nishiki were so fucking out of character it snapped me out of the show.

The reception of the NTS show is proof that the Yakuza fandom doesn’t understand anything about art and just wants to see their funnies and consume the same thing over and over again
