@kolschbitte Tried a workaround I found on t'internets. Remove one pixel and save it as a gif, apparently they don't compress gifs. Seems to have worked with my yellowhammer pic I posted earlier.

Does anyone know if there's a way to avoid twitter lowering the image quality of photos posted on here?

@StrathclydeMark Easy way to do it in Photoshop - open completed file and choose file>export as, then use settings in picture below. Change width and height to suit aspect ratio but keep longest edge at 2048. Should come out close to original, and Twitter shouldn't do much if anything to it:
