They're probably in /tmp because the person who set it up had only seen a computer on a postcard once before their boss ordered them to design an environment for the in-flight entertainment system. Happens surprisingly often.

Jag skulle gissa på att det är i oktober som @PostNordSverige inventerar sina röda julpostlådor, för just i dag verkar alla 50 julkort vi skickade år 2022 trilla ner i folks brevlådor. Hur många lådor hittade ni som ni hade glömt tömma?

@jrockandrollt @amingilani The barrier isn't all that high either. The exam is fairly easy. And judging a hobby by its Twitter crowd is positively unfair. Also, as a matter of undisputable fact, you have had at least one radio person encouraging you to go learn: yours truly.

@jrockandrollt @amingilani In all fairness, seeing as you yourself have discovered that an improperly used radio transmitter can inadvertently turn on an appliance in your home, wouldn't you agree that the gatekeeping is somewhat warranted? This time it's a faucet, next time it's an electric wheelchair.

@jrockandrollt @amingilani Now, if you're willing to become an amateur radio operator then that's great, we'll be pleased to have you after you've passed the exam. But if you just want a set of radios to communicate with your family when out hiking, for instance, what you really want is FRS or GMRS.

@jrockandrollt @amingilani The “presets” are there because it's a cheap Chinese brand which doesn't give two shits about radio regulations in the target market. 150.325 is somewhere in the middle of a segment reserved for radio astronomy if memory serves me right.
