Back to remote work after 2 days in the library. Not sure there was an excellent plan in place. But, to be fair, they only had 3 years to come up with one.

@russianprof Having been on both sides of this- I have had interviews and heard nothing back from the committee. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Not even "the job has been filled."

@guyinblackhat @saguynes hmm- it might not be important in US bibliographic citation, but I can tell you that for Russian studies, especially pre-revolutionary, knowing where a book or journal was printed gives vital information about the historical context.

@LibSkrat *shrug* what presses want is immaterial to how the economic pressures of academia affect presses. OA is coming- how will it be financed is the new reality.

@LibSkrat A number of university presses are being merged/absorbed by university libraries so this might not be as true today as it was a few years ago. This from a scholarly communications publisher working in a library run university press.

@Joseph_Koivisto My uncle put two hens in a pressure cooker and blew a hole in his kitchen ceiling and collateral damage in all the walls and cabinets- ie do not exceed recommended capacity and heat.

I used an old Russian recipe for brining cucumbers in a pumpkin, which lends fantastic flavor to the half-sour pickles. A bonus is the pumpkin itself, which you can roast and then mash with butter and maple syrup. #russianfood #fermentation #pickles

When classes end next week, our great interns and student workers will leave for the summer. They are unfailingly responsible and able to take the initiative in the press. They are able to overcome obstacles. If anyone needs a recommendation for staff, let me know. @ucincipress
