@Moridimortem_ @UsernameWords @Rsoaker27 It's a locked-down Android tablet. theflow0 hacked it last year and run GTA: LCS on PPSSPP but exploit has since been patched.

@UsernameWords @Rsoaker27 can you even recycle it and use it as something else like a phone or a steamdeck?
English

Why wouldn’t it? It’s a remote streaming device? Are there fools out here that really don’t understand what the portal is?

@Ogclownkush Because PC doesn't have check-in DRMs (e.g. Denuvo), or even worse always-online... Xbox introduced it, PC made it common.

@NewsProspector @DoesItPlay1 Trading digital media may be well impossible but we can still avoid settling for mediocrity. GOG sets the gold standard for digital purchases. Buy, archive, and use freely anytime, anywhere, so long as it remains for personal use, even on a shared family device.

People go to comfortable I think, the warning signs have been there, people will complain we it finally gets to a point where it effects them negatively, by then it will be to late though.
We had Don Mattrick telling us that "If we don't want an always online console, then we can buy a 360."
We have had high ups in Ubisoft telling us "We have to get used to not owning games."
We have had Nintendo bricking Switch 2's for the crime of not knowing that the person you bought a second hand game from had dumped the game before selling it to you (you can get it un-bricked but it's a whole hassle to go through).
And now we have Sony with the timer DRM that was supposedly activated by accident.
They are showing and telling you how little you mean to them and people are willing to give up their right to own physical games and have them instead in a digital library where (as Ubisoft put it) "You have to get used to not owning games".
Just think about it for a moment, people who buy digital games for Xbox SX and PS5, you're actually screwing yourself with the purchase, you get the game, sure, but you cannot resell it if you wanted to, that's something people who buy physical copies can do, so you pay the same price more or less and get a lessor product.... Well done.

@NewsProspector @DoesItPlay1 True. So, loudly complaining may hopefully deter them from ever enabling something like that. Yet, it's quite curious how we went from the massive backlash Xbox 1 had over its daily check-in to many people nowadays saying "so what, you're always online anyway".
English

@DoesItPlay1 It may have been deployed unintentionally, but it is still something Sony worked on and has as a option to implement.
Not good.

@DoesItPlay1 Finally this gets more attention. Even made a tweet myself (x.com/konfou/status/…) because AI support is useless and saw that (the quite a few over last month) threads on reddit reporting this get comments like "you're doing something wrong"/deleted/etc.

Hi @Sony @PlayStation! Noticed some PS4 games I've bought and downloaded now, show a 1-month validity. Does this mean I need to log in monthly just to play games I permanently purchased for offline use? That would be… an interesting change. Clarification would be appreciated.

Epik has presented a good lesson on why it's a bad idea to store configuration in plain text files on your application server 😬
