NSF has cut all funding immediately to arguably the world's best free online interactive science and maths simulator in the world. Why? All that effort at risk of simply disappearing. Such a petty cut of just $1.5 m.

April 15 is the birthday of the artist Leonardo da Vinci and the mathematician Leonard Euler. Both were considered the greatest polymaths of their times. Both still have influence today. Consider the similarity between the Euler equation and Vitruvian Man

@fatman845 @fireflyspace It isn't. Earth is much bigger than Sun from Moon. The ring you see is light being refracted from the atmosphere to the Moon...so my question is why does it appear blue and not red?

@fireflyspace The apparent size of earth is roughly 4 times bigger than sun from the moon. Can someone explain why earth size is pretty much same as sun here??

#BlueGhost got her first diamond ring! Captured at our landing site in the Moon’s Mare Crisium around 3:30 am CDT, the photo shows the sun about to emerge from totality behind Earth. Hope to have more shots to share soon! #BGM1

Today is the birthday of Rosalind Franklin, architect of perhaps the most important photograph ever taken in the history of science, photo51. Controversially not cited in the Nobel Award for the discovery of DNA.

Today was the birthday of German born American Maria Goeppert-Mayer. Second woman to win a physics Nobel in 1963 for her contributions to nuclear shell structure. She joined the Manhattan Project in 1941 and proposed her mathematical model of nuclear structure in 1949.

bbc.com/news/world-eur… Shades of Notre Dame, Windsor Castle and many others. Another ancient building lost because of renovation work. When will contractors realise that electricity is so poorly understood by their workers that it simply invites disaster!

bbc.com/news/uk-687743… Following the Post Office scandal in the UK, guess who writes the software for DWP? This is why it is so important to deliver coding in schools. People's lives are being destroyed by computer code.

There is hypothesis in some areas, it is deeply worrying and it is shared across Wales and being fed back by all local authorities. Seen on the BBC today, maybe this just a "theoretical disease"? Clearly inedible!

Ludwig Boltzmann born today in 1844. Originator of statistical mechanics a pillar of quantum mechanics, his constant k being named in his honour by Max Planck. His student, Arrhenius, predicted in 1896 that doubling CO2 would raise world temperature by 5 C°. Almost there!

Today is the birthday of Henri Becquerel who made one of the most serendipitous discoveries of all time...radioactivity. More importantly, his most famous doctoral student was Marie Curie with whom he shared a Nobel Prize in 1903.

bbc.com/news/uk-englan… More math nonsense from the BBC. ...the location of the challenge must be level with a 1:1 gradient... Looks pretty steep to me. Level ground would have a 0:1 gradient!

When you switch the lights on today, remember that it is the birthday of Michael Faraday. Without his practical genius there might not have been the ubiquitous electricity we have today.

⚠️ One crew from @StMarys54 remains on the scene working with onsite staff to extinguish the fire. There is still a significant amount of smoke and steam in the air so local residents are asked to keep windows and doors closed.
