I'm ok with a lot of race swaps, but their entire characters hinge in Magneto being a Jewish holocaust survivor and Xavier being an upper class white man hiding he's a mutant. Xavier has always been very nieve because he's able to hide. Him being white very much informs this in the sense that he doesn't face the same prejudices that Magneto and other more grossly mutants do.
