New research by Oxfam and the CARE Climate Justice Center shows developing countries are paying more back to rich nations than they receive. As most of the support comes as loans, instead of grants, developed countries enrich themselves in the process. 📌 For every $5 in climate finance loans, developing countries pay back $7. This is worsening debt while leaving frontline communities without the resources to adapt. Ahead of #COP30, we call on wealthy nations to stop crisis profiteering and deliver real support in grants, not debt traps. Frontline communities need justice, not another bill. Highlight from Week 1 at #SB62: Youth took action demanding real adaptation finance for the Global South—delivered as grants, not loans, and sourced from public finance, not private investments. Because for frontline communities, adaptation is not a debate—it’s survival.
