@kovacp911 @JeremKOYTB "when you crack that die after replacing thermal paste" this is the whole point, you deliberately create e-waste for no reason here, where a SoC just works to specs.

@shrimpala @JeremKOYTB That is stupid and you know it. When you crack die on that CPU you must buy whole motherboard as you not have tools to replace that CPU. Old laptops are worth more when they have slots for CPU and RAM. Those laptops with U chips are in garbage can

@kovacp911 @JeremKOYTB I'm all for right to repair, but I can't install extra ALUs into my CPU if I need them either. This is just the next logical step after ICs and Chipsets in computational integration.

@shrimpala @JeremKOYTB I really like to see re-glue that e-waste chip when you crack that die after replacing thermal paste. Go to car shop and ask them if they can weld wheels forever to the hubs. I just put some sharp rocks in front of tyres so you have flat tyre forever.

@kovacp911 @JeremKOYTB It's not, most people don't. And when did bad RAM ever happen too anyone really, are you cheaping out to begin with? Like cute esoteric fringe scenarios that don't help the ecofootprint baseline or you argument. A solid SoC that fails less and is better than a dhingy diy-build.

@shrimpala @JeremKOYTB And then knock on door regulations and right to repair. Replacing RAM module or CPU in socket is sustainable. Have a nice day and not cry when your SoC will have glue on BAD RAM

@kovacp911 @JeremKOYTB Your Motherboard with all components having extra capacitors, packaging, pcb for just wiring infrastructure and shelving and everything is not the posterchild of sustainability here. SoCs as continuation of what NUCs did before are reducing footprint here if you like it or not.

@JeremKOYTB I had bad RAM stick and replacing RAM modules save whole Motherboard. These guys? Buggy RAM? BUY new PC. Manufacture E-Waste should be illegal.

@kovacp911 It's not so much the problem that there's 128GB and I want more, but simply that if the RAM dies, how do you plan to replace it? Lmaooo

@JeremKOYTB Twitter show me a lot of PC ads and very Expensive laptops use Desktop CPU sockets. So it is just like i say middle finger "right to repair". It is more easy to replace CPU in socket than re-glue it on motherboard.

@kovacp911 Since it's a laptop, I'd like at least the RAM to be replaceable, but that's not the case. :(

@shrimpala @JeremKOYTB That is not sustainable. Making same motherboard just with different CPU is E-waste and as many tell impossible to repair. Never had bad RAM stick?

@JeremKOYTB Repairable PCs are over. Current physical demand on unified memories and lane lengths require SoCs. Best you can hope for is Desktops and Gaming PCs with multiple slots for SoC assemblies for effectively running a configurable cluster of SoCs on shared peripherals.
