@RichHeydarian Di ba technically, pwede silang sitahin ng GSIS, as the owner of the compound for harboring a fugitive within.

If I remember it correctly, Zyann opted not to disclose her location just yet during the TV Patrol live report. She's just on phone reporting -- crying, shaking. Everyone thought she's at the Senate. A smoking gun it was all the way from GSIS, where no shots were fired.

@noringai That's not automatic. Remember PGMA's assumption of the presidency? She appointed Guingona to VP post after that - with congressional approval.

@DeusXMachina14 Wait. Di ba GSIS own the compound? So technically pwede sabihin ng GSIS na di pwedeng manatili sa compound nila any person na may warrant of arrest.

So rumors are making the rounds that a major Philippine real estate firm - one of the oldest - is facing financial difficulties on P300B ($5B) of “exposure” (likely debt related to poorly performing projects). This article suggests issues are isolated to this firm. But from what I’m hearing, issues are more wide-spread. While still not reaching alarming levels, there’s definitely stress on the balance sheet of local property firms. A looming recession will be the test of their mettle. Lots gorged on debt driven expansion over the past 5 years.

@PhilippineStar @kbtaasan Bad move @BangkoSentral. The inflation is external in origin. Tightening money circulation will not address inflation. It might just cause more harm on the wider economy. Businesses have been hit by increasing fuel prices, now you are hitting them with higher cost of borrowing.

🚨Indonesia announced it is planning to impose fees on ships passing through the Strait of Malacca, while Singapore issued a differing stance regarding freedom of navigation. ▪️ Indonesia: Our country lies on a vital global trade and energy route, yet no fees are currently collected from ships passing through the Strait of Malacca. ▪️ Singapore: The right of passage is guaranteed for all, and we will not participate in any efforts to close the strait, restrict navigation, or impose transit fees. ▪️ The Strait of Malacca connects the Indian and Pacific Oceans and is the shortest maritime route between Middle Eastern suppliers and Asian customers. It lies between Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. ▪️ The strait holds strategic importance as the world’s busiest narrow waterway in terms of oil transit volume. ▪️ Source: Anadolu Agency

🇮🇩🇺🇸🇨🇳 The Iran war is teaching Indonesia a lesson, and the implications could reshape Asian trade forever... Indonesia's Finance Minister just floated the idea of imposing a toll on ships transiting the Strait of Malacca, explicitly citing Iran's Hormuz strategy as the inspiration: "If we split it three ways between Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, it could be quite substantial. Our stretch is the largest and the longest." The Malacca Strait is the most important chokepoint in the world for East Asia. Middle Eastern oil reaches China, Japan, and South Korea through it. Global supply chains depend on it. And China gets 80% of its energy imports through this waterway. Singapore and Malaysia immediately rejected the idea. But the genie is out of the bottle. Iran demonstrated that a single country with coastal missiles and small boats can hold global shipping hostage. Every nation bordering a chokepoint is now doing the math on whether they could do the same thing. The strategic picture is clearer than most people realize. The U.S. signed a cooperation deal with Indonesia during the Iran war. American military cooperation in the region is expanding. The first island chain of Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines gives Washington the tools to restrict Chinese access to the Malacca Strait if needed. Control the chokepoints and you control who gets what resources. That's the logic Trump is operating on, and Indonesia is watching carefully. China's dependence on foreign energy through narrow waterways is its greatest strategic vulnerability. If tensions with the U.S. ever escalate, Washington doesn't need to attack Beijing. It just needs to control Malacca. And Indonesia has just publicly signaled it's open to being part of that leverage structure for the right price. The Iran war may end up reshaping the financial architecture of every global chokepoint, from Hormuz to Malacca to Panama. Source: CNA, Fanack

BISHOP RAISES ALARM ON RELIGIOUS-LIKE LEADERSHIP CLAIMS Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David on Wednesday, April 15, warned American Catholics against what he described as the “messianic” framing of political leadership, following US President Donald Trump’s reposting and subsequent deletion of an AI-generated image depicting himself in a Jesus-like role. In an open letter addressed to American Catholics, Cardinal David said Christians believe in “only one Savior” and cautioned against imagery that blurs the line between political authority and religious symbolism, calling it a recurring danger in history. He also pointed to the global consequences of US policy decisions, citing ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and urging accountability rooted in democratic responsibility.

Pope Leo invoked during yesterday’s groundbreaking prayer for peace John Paul II and his words during March 16, 2003 Angelus prayer - a text he delivered 3 months into what Reuters then called „international church campaign to avert war in Iraq” which the pope led - and 4 days before the start of the Iraq war. Worth to remind a bigger chunk of that Angelus text as it speaks volumes today how history likes to repeat itself and in which John Paul said firmly: „To reflect on one's duties, to engage in energetic negotiations does not mean to be humiliated, but to work with responsibility for peace.” Joh Paul II, Angelus, March 16, 2003 „Only Christ can renew hearts and again give hope to peoples. Today's liturgy, in presenting the mysterious event of the Transfiguration, allows us to experience the power of his light, that overcomes the darkness of doubt and evil. From this perspective of faith, I wish to renew an urgent appeal to intensify the commitment to prayer and penance, to invoke from Christ the gift of his peace. There is no peace without conversion of heart. The next few days will be decisive for the outcome of the Iraqi crisis. Let us pray, then, that the Lord inspire in all sides of the dispute courage and farsightedness. The political leaders of Baghdad certainly have the urgent duty to collaborate fully with the international community to eliminate every reason for armed intervention. To them I direct my urgent appeal:  the fate of your fellow-citizens should always have priority. But I would also like to remind the member countries of the United Nations, and especially those who make up the Security Council, that the use of force represents the last recourse, after having exhausted every other peaceful solution, in keeping with the well-known principles of the UN Charter. That is why, in the face of the tremendous consequences that an international military operation would have for the population of Iraq and for the balance of the Middle East region, already sorely tried, and for the extremisms that could stem from it, I say to all:  There is still time to negotiate; there is still room for peace, it is never too late to come to an understanding and to continue discussions. To reflect on one's duties, to engage in energetic negotiations does not mean to be humiliated, but to work with responsibility for peace. Moreover, we Christians are convinced that real and lasting peace is not only the fruit of necessary political agreements and understandings between individuals and peoples, but is the gift of God to all those who submit themselves to him and accept with humility and gratitude the light of his love. I belong to that generation that lived through World War II and, thanks be to God, survived it. I have the duty to say to all young people, to those who are younger than I, who have not had this experience: "No more war" as Paul VI said during his first visit to the United Nations. We must do everything possible. We know well that peace is not possible at any price. But we all know how great is this responsibility. Therefore prayer and penance. Let us go forward confidently, dear Brothers and Sisters, in our Lenten journey. May the Blessed Virgin Mary obtain for us that this Lent may not be remembered as a sad time of war, but as a period of courageous effort for conversion and peace. We entrust this intention to the special intercession of St Jospeh whose Solemnity we will celebrate next Wednesday.” Fot. Vatican Media
