i met a trader in miami a few months ago doing $60k a month in prop firm payouts.
he showed me his stats...
68% win rate.
average RR: 0.8R to 1R
i asked him why he wasn't pushing for fatter RRs since everyone on twitter is obsessed with 1:5s and 1:10s.
his answer was honest af lol.
"bro, i tried the high RR thing for 2 years. blew 30+ accounts trying to catch runners. my win rate was sitting around 30% and i couldn't handle 7-8 losing trades in a row mentally."
"so i switched to taking quick profits.
"1:1 to 1:2 mostly.
"sometimes a 1:3 if the level was clean."
"my win rate literally jumped to 65%+ within a month."
he was running $1.8M in combined funding across 6 funded accounts.
some months he'd pull $40k.
some months $80k.
but he was consistent every single month.
and the psychology was completely different.
winning 7 out of 10 trades doesn't feel anything like winning 3 out of 10, even when the expectancy math works out the same on paper.
your brain doesn't just care about being in profit when you're on a 9-trade losing streak.
obviously it matters, but losing 9 in a row sucks.
then he told me something that stuck:
"i don't need to be right about where price is going for the next 3 days. i just need to be right about the next 10-20 ticks..."
"that's it."
i relate to this because most traders are chasing massive RRs.
this is usually since some youtube guy told them that's what real traders do.
meanwhile this guy is pulling consistent multi 5-figure months running 1:1 to 1:2 base hits across 6 accounts.
and honestly, this is what i've been preaching for a while now.
you don't need huge RRs to make serious money on prop firms.
you need capital, consistency, and a win rate you can actually maintain across hundreds of trades.
high RR with low win rate sounds cool on twitter, but it blows accounts.
base hits across multiple accounts is what actually pays you every single month.

i was sent a 3D plaque of my live funded trader certificate with topstep.
and it really showed me how far i've come.
because 2 years ago i was scanning groceries at acme for $14 an hour, blowing forex prop firm accounts on every paycheck.
every night i was literally praying one day i'd be able to look back at that version of my life from somewhere better.
now i'm staring at a physical reminder of the version i was praying for, which is wild honestly.
i credit a lot of this to God.
i'm not gonna preach at anyone, that's not what this is, but there were stretches of the journey where the only thing keeping me going was prayer and trust that the work was eventually gonna pay off.
sure, i had to make more sacrifices than i would've liked, and it took me way longer than i wanted...
but it paid off.
the plaque itself isn't really what i'm grateful for though.
it's just plastic with my name on it.
what i'm actually grateful for is everything that had to happen to get me there, like the version of me who refused to quit when nothing was working, my family supporting the move even when they didn't fully get it, my friends believing in this before any of it was real, and honestly the boring repetitive work itself.
all of that quietly stacked into where i'm at now.
so if you're in the rough stretch right now, this is the part worth taking.
you genuinely can't see where the work is leading when you're inside of it.
but trust me, it's leading somewhere.
just keep showing up, keep praying on it if that's part of your journey too, and one day you'll be looking back at your own version of this moment wondering how it all came together.

Today my AI trading bot passed a 50k apex evaluation fully automated while I was sleeping
A huge accomplishment and new standard was set for blazeprops AI today
You watched me document this entire journey on X. This is just a new beginning and checkpoint for something much greater
I didn’t manually place a trade or have to even look at my charts, it just executed my onlyticksv2 model 100% automated
Blazeprops is a name you will be hearing a lot more often soon.

i'd rather take a $500 loss than break my own rules.
most traders read that and think i'm exaggerating.
i'm not.
a $500 loss inside the rules is just data.
it's a winning trader who hit the wrong side of variance on this specific setup.
nothing about my edge changed.
a $500 loss outside the rules is something completely different.
it's me telling my own brain that the rules are optional under pressure.
and once your brain knows the rules are optional, they're done.
next week i'll break the same rule for a "better setup."
the week after that for an even better one.
within a month i'm just another "trader" pretending to have a system.
because the cost of the broken rule was never the $500.
it was killing the structure that was protecting me from myself.
and that's why i don't negotiate with my rules in the heat of a session.
if my system says 1 trade a day, i take 1 trade a day, even when there's a 2nd setup that looks insane.
if my system says walk away after a loss, i walk away, even when i'm dead sure i could make it back.
the rules are the trader.
break the rules, you're not that trader anymore.
most guys never make it past their first funded account because they can't sit through the pain of obeying their own system in real time.
every successful trader i know has the same skill.
they'd rather eat a small loss than break the structure that makes them profitable in the first place.

most traders blow $50k evals because they go in with no real risk model.
they buy a lucid flex 50k or a topstep 50k, take 4 contracts on the first setup of the day, win it, and immediately scale to 6 on the next one because the market feels good.
then by wednesday the account is gone lol.
so they buy another one with the next paycheck and the cycle starts over.
i know that cycle well though... i lived it for a year and a half.
so here's what worked for me:
your $50k eval gives you $2,000 of max loss and a $3,000 profit target.
this means you risk $500 per trade.
that gives you 4 bullets before the account is dead.
you take 1 trade per session.
1:2 risk to reward minimum, with stop moved to break even at 1R.
if you take a loss, the platform closes for the day.
no second trade or revenge entry.
you literally JUST walk away.
because with a 50% win rate at 1:2, you're net positive on any week.
3 winners closes the entire $3,000 target.
the eval typically clears in 4 to 8 trading days running this exact framework.
once you pass, the model shifts.
risk drops to $250 per trade on the funded account.
8 bullets of buffer now instead of 4.
same 1:2 RR & 1 loss lockout.
it would take 8 straight losses to blow the funded account, which almost never happens with a real strategy.
at $500 per winning trade, 2 winners a week puts you at the payout threshold inside a month.
the reason this works is that you can't oversize, you can't revenge trade...
and you can't chase B setups when your only bullet is gone.
implement it.
