So very stoked to share this project with the world, from our beautiful nook of Tacoma WA. It all started with the women themselves--so many incredible ladies in this town. They run some of my favorite places, and imho are showing how to do it right, and deliciously!

Hope you're hungry!

@Brendan_SSCN @rosanereports @Shauna_Sowersby All but inevitable, yes. Changes coming to how the print paper is delivered, which feels like a stopgap to cutting days. Digital is of course the sensible future, if done right.

@G8rgrrlCheryl Haha this makes sense, and has definitely happened to me, but I also feel like often the other drivers barely slow down. Like if I don't stop, I'm done!

Weird Tacoma street etiquette Q: I fondly recall the bizarre concept of my hometown Pittsburgh Left, wherein you, going straight, let the car opposite the intersection turn left *first* (as opposed to the left-turner having to wait until the light is basically red). 1/

@NBcraftbeer C'est quoi?! So no matter which direction you're coming from, if there's a car to your left, you yield...?

In Lincoln/SE/Eastside it seems anyway. So my Q... Is there an unwritten rule that the East-West car slows down at the stop sign-less intersections, and the North-South road has the *culturally accepted* right of way? Or are there no rules, written or un/it's just a free-for-all

Recently I wondered: In Tacoma, so many side streets have neither stop signs nor roundabouts. (Don't get me started on how no one here knows how to use a roundabout, traffic circle, whatever! Y'all are crazy). Those that do have stop signs, it's usually the East-West street. 2/

@PieGodUW Bustling and popular ≠ great. Olive Garden is bustling and popular. Not really a worthwhile metric.

@kriscarasher Ha! I’m pretty comfortable with my credentials sampling restaurants across the country. If I wasn’t confident, I might write an article rationalizing why I felt compelled to criticize a bustling, popular restaurant I’m too sheepish to acknowledge I don’t get.

@PieGodUW Dismissed is wildly inaccurate, but you seem content. Hope you step outside the city border some time.

@G8rgrrlCheryl I could probably guess which one... the cost is tough these days. $18 kinda makes sense when you consider the cost of rent labor ingredients etc. But of course when the food is great you can forgive!

Friends wanted brunch but waits at my top picks were too long on Sunday. We ended up at one of Tacoma's old-school diner-type places, were sat right away but waited almost 45min for food to land and honestly... it was kinda bad

@scottandwild It was borderline "what's going on" territory. I don't brunch often these days (bc I know better haha) but a few months back honestly waited over an hour for food to land and the server admitted that the understaffed kitchen had partied too hard the night before...!

@kriscarasher Ugh that's frustrating 😕 I'm getting old and cranky and a wait for food is a big deal.

@mattsdriscoll This building kinda reminds me of Heinz Lofts in Pittsburgh, 20th century factory converted to residential apts in 2005. It was one of the first big redevelopment projects that sparked the city's 'renaissance'

It’s a cool, iconic Nalley Valley building — designed by the same dude who did Stadium and Lincoln high schools. What if it was full of live-work space? That’s the vision, according to its owner. thenewstribune.com/opinion/articl…

@IAMQDOT Is there something about Top Golf that a place like Stadium Golf lacks? Technically Seattle-based but still nice to have a local-ish option ya? (from not a golfer haha)

@chicagobars Out west now and trying to track down used bricks took time and patience. Salvage stores here hardly ever have them. Miss the ample supply of @RXChicago

Anybody in Chicago business media ever profiled Chicago’s brick recycling industry? It’s been a thing for a long time but don’t know where they end up.

Per the unknown and probably useless Google Maps algorithm: All the usually busy on a Friday night @6thAveDistrict bars/restaurants are 'less busy than usual' but guess which one is 'busier than usual'?
