It is so heartening to see a new Kannda learner reading a classic like #hamsageete (along with its Hindi translation). What is stopping you, ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರೇ ? If you haven't yet read #ಹಂಸಗೀತೆ , you should. It is also way better than the movie!

@hpnadig Happy that we have 200+ plants of different types in our building. There is a garden in all the floors. We can see the effect. Ground floor is at least 2 degrees less in temperature.

Atomberg fans and remote controls have one annoying UI issue: there's no way to tell what speed the fan is running at if you randomly walk into a room. We have them in our Delhi home and sometimes I'll think "I need to turn the fan down". But I don't know the current speed. (1/2)

Think about the next generation of Gen Z. Particularly urban. In their minds, they can order anything and it will be at the doorstep. They take the quality of whatever is delivered as best. Particularly food and perishables. This generation will be loosing many life skills. Their peers from smaller towns will be much more capable.

I have been observing and saying this: Gen Z seem to be dumber than Gen X and older generations. Even their grandparent generation in some capabilities like social skills for example. And this neuroscientist explains why.

@DivzyRai @nivedithapanda1 ಇದು “ಅರಮ್ಯ” - “ಆರಮ್ಯ” ಅಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆ ಅರ್ಥ ನೋಡಲೇ ಬೇಕು ಎಂದಾದರೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಬಹುದು. ಏಕಾಕ್ಷರ ಕೋಶದಲ್ಲಿ “ಅ” ಅಂದರೆ ವಿಷ್ಣು. ಅ + ರಮ್ಯ = ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿಗೆ ರಮ್ಯವಾದುದು/ರಮ್ಯವಾದವರು. ಹಾಗೆ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿ ಎಂಬರ್ಥ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಸಾಮನ್ಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗದು.

I was listening to a lecture concerning food science in ayurveda by Dr Kumaraswami. He was saying the climate in Bengaluru is not very good for digestion. So samskara of food is very important to make it digest. According to him it is best if Uddu and Rice are soaked and ground separately and then mixed before boiling. It undergoes 12 step samskara and is better for digestion. But I like Idli with Rava when they are made properly rather than bubble gum idlis.

@embraerstar True, these facts are mentioned in the inscriptions of 6-7 century. What was it in BCE ? Looks like only available references are in edicts of Ashoka.

@krishkallapur UK area was mostly Haiva ( ಹೈವ) & DK mostly Taulava (ತೌಳವ) ,atleast as of 6-7 century AD. Both made KaravaLi (ಕರಾವಳಿ). Status about northern territories to UK including Goa & Konkan is unclear as it has been regularly under Kannada speaking kings.

@krishkallapur @hamsanandi @Kar_Bharadwaj We don’t see such major distinction in those days. Nor any inscriptions of that old survive in Dakshina Kannada. Banavasi was likely he UK Ghats area (around Sirsi) I think inscriptions start around 7th century which ever is surviving.

@CanaraKaradt Sounds correct. Those days it was single coastal area.

I think North Canara was part of Sathiya Putra in olden days. Satiya Putra = Children of women who become Sati. Even today there are hundreds of temples dedicated to Mahasatis in North Canara.

@embraerstar Yes, Suvarnagiri is Chitradurga. There was no DK UK then. Entire coast was one and called Sahya Putta. Interesting to check who was ruling it. Must be a strong king to not give in to Mauryan. Maybe early Satavahanas?
