@Siviwe_G @DBE_SA I wish that in addition to that we could stop debating and discriminating black hair in schools, and rather put our focus on empowering and building our future leaders in a more inclusive and efficient way. We need the department of Education to remind schools in 2026.

As we mark International Mother Language Day, I am reminded of the power of telling our stories in our own languages. Children learn better when taught in their mother tongue. It strengthens understanding, confidence, and overall performance in school. We are proud of the strides made in Mother Tongue Based Bilingual Education. In 2025 we launched the first-ever bilingual Grade 4 exams in Mathematics and Natural Science to strengthen learning in the early grades. We are making progress, and we must continue to do so. Our languages matter. 🇿🇦
