I cannot stress this enough how honored and proud I am to be part of a stream team like FOTF. To see all the hard work, heartache, and stress these members had and still have to go through to keep it moving everyday. Putting in so much time and energy that they did because people would treat them like a PR team rather than human beings who have their own personal matters and obligations. I never felt in a million years that I would be blessed to be part of a team like this and to get to be there and help in any way. I used to always feel like an outcast, sometimes I still do, but joining this group opened me to so many amazing people who I get to connect with and watch grow. I’ve seen so many outstanding accomplishments from hosting events to fundraising money for causes to creating a space for not only women, but trans women and nonbinary minorities who face so much misogyny and backlash for being who they are. There will always be mistakes that are made; communication is such an important tool and to reach out and hear from every side of the story can open up so much more detail on things that the outside world may not get to see to avoid so much unwanted chaos. There has been so much slander and miscommunication circling the events of last year. So many were hurting, so much had happened, emotions were extremely high, but I saw so many stick to this team like glue in support. Even those who left still supporting because that’s what you should be doing. Not pushing people down in their darkest moments. Not creating google docs to cause drama about things that can be handled behind DMs. We should educate ourselves instead of reaching for clicks and causing negativity. We have to do better and take accountability. I love this team. I love what it stands for and all the changes being made to make it a better and safe space for other fem, and nonbinary minorities. We needed this stream team when there are so many man dominated spaces occupying the scene and the world we still live in. I don’t want to see this be ripped from us when it’s so important. Not only do I advocate to be kind to yourself, but you should ALWAYS be kind to others. 💖
