There was no mistake here. The referee judged that the ball striking the hand was accidental. Watmore continued without been penalised. He passed the ball to a player who scored. The law was changed at the start of the season. It is only the attacker who scores directly into goal

Really think commentary would have been vastly improved today regarding Mbeumo handball incident if the commentators had tried to provide the info on why the referee might give the goal as per the laws of the game instead of just repeatedly saying ‘that’s scandalous’.

Agreed👏👏 we finally saw a referee grow a pair and be strong enough to ignore whoever was on VAR and go with the correct decision that's in the rulebook. If anyone says it was deliberate handball they need to visit @Specsavers or just seek help.

@mark_robinson_ Because Watmore wasn’t the goal scorer That’s the rule, if it’s not done by the direct goal scorer, they don’t get involved So why VAR got involved today, I have no idea… Good on the ref for sticking to the actual rules and not bowing down to the pressure
