Technically the first ever Halo Championship was hosted in Nagoya, Japan in April 2002. But The first Halo National Champion tournament event was hosted in August of 2002 at every EB Games store throughout America. Then the final at @G4TV studio in Los Angeles.
It copied the 1994 Blockbuster video game championship tournament concept. Back in the summer of 2002. When more than 13 thousand Halo players competed at EB Games stores throughout America. This same tournament method applied to the Blockbuster event I was apart of. When players like myself would go to a local Blockbuster and compete. @DrDisrespect claims his championship fame from that event 30 years ago. But it was Mark Guinane and Fred Doughty who won.
From the more than 13 thousand players who competed at the first Halo National Championship in 2002. 16 Finalist were then invited to compete at the G4TV studios in Los Angeles, California. Those players were HP Darkman, Mob Masta, BVANC, Big Sauce, DM, Strange Purple, Kiss Charlie, Sgt Slaughter, Da Soldier, Chumpp, Cain, Vegeta Punk, Veritas, RedOgre, PX and Zeus.
HP Darkman & Strange Purple were the only players really respected and deemed as Halo legends from that group. Darkman was the creator of the first ever Halo dynasty team. TDT also known as The Dream Team. He teamed with my old friend and former business partner Zyos. Strange Purple went to compete at a high level in Halo CE. He was also apart of STK (Shoot to Kill) and did play with the Ogres. Strange Purple was a phenom.
Dustin Langton (HP Darkman) won the event on August 30th 2002. He won a 50 RCA Plasma TV, Xbox, 11 Xbox games, an Xbox remote, A bose lifestyle sound system. He latered sold his 50 inch TV to buy a Camaro. In those days. When Plasma tvs first came out. Some sold for more than $20,000. HP Darkman autograph among other original Halo pros are found in this original Halo National Championship poster. This is halo history right here. Credits to Xbox Darkroom for obtaining this Halo relic. @Tashi @ske7ch @Unyshek @Walshy @TomRyanOGRE2 @DanRyanOGRE1 @PlutonForEver @AceTv @Ninja @BubuDubu @Falcated_ @Spartan @Halo @HCS @Sabinater_ @Svspector

@flowerinhe36997 River's sister @RainJPhoenix is the good source of info for River. Joaquin phoenix is also a great source of information. I never knew River or the Phoenix family. Though I have met some in Hollywood who have claimed to have known River.
English

@krypton_17 I've been a huge fan of River Phoenix for many years! Dogfight is my fav RP movie. Do you mind sharing some stories from your agent?
English

Awesome interview Theo. Love to see this. My agent was a friend of River Phoenix years ago. Before some of my film ideas could manifest as concepts to film companies like Universal, Paramount and Warner Bros. My agent unfortunately passed away. So all those film ideas left secret within me. Was kept hidden. My talent's agent name was Chris Nassif. Chris was the reason Luke Perry became an actor on Beverly Hills 90210 tv show.
I remember Chris spoke very highly of River when we spoke. Very cool that Joaquin opened up about his brother. What an extraordinary talent River was. One of my favorite actors. And what an amazing human being. Stand by me was a personal favorite. One of my film ideas I shared with Chris when he was with us was I think a movie about River Phoenix should be made. I don't think this next generation realizes just how special River was. Maybe a movie about him can spark that fire from within and keep River's legacy going strong. @TheoVon @flea333 @Corey_Feldman @RealKiefer @MrJerryOC

I wish Chris shared more stories with me regarding his connection to River. If you remember. River passed away back in 1993. So Chris only knew him for a few years. My former agent Chris seen to the far right. His brother Paul in the middle. @MarkWahlberg to the left. I met Chris through Mark Wahlberg's best friend. When I spoke with Chris. Chris would often speak about Luke Perry and sometimes Mark Wahlberg. Luke was the former star of Beverly Hills 90210 show. Which was very popular in the 90s. He helped to launch Luke's career. @torispelling Father was the producer of that show. It was certainly epic. No question. Chris and I spoke about producing a video game movie. I was trying to push pro gamers from the @HCS scene and @MLG scene for that film concept. We also discussed his son Ryan's involvement. We then discussed a film about River Phoenix. Featuring his childhood, his acting career and his untimely passing. Ending the movie at Johnny Depp's former night club the Viper Room.

This was Zyos first montage I co-created with Phurion. I almost got my old friend HP Darkman to make one. But he was far too busy with family. I also discussed creating a montage for Killer N. Zyos and Darkman were the first two gamers in esports history to be signed to a pro contract with Major League Gaming (MLG). Check it out. @MLGPuckett @DanRyanOGRE1 @TomRyanOGRE2 @Walshy @GH057ayame @StrongSide @Tsquared @Banks @Nadeshot

Amazing to see that the Goonies 2 film is in production. So happy to hear about this. Steven Spielberg who has been a friend and neighbor of my family since the 1970s disclosed to my cousin as seen in this interview why the movie was called the Goonies. That movie was so good. A timeless masterpiece. I hope the sequel can match the same energy from the original. I believe it will do very well. @SeanAstin @Corey_Feldman @RobertJohnDavi @KeHuyQuan007 @Jeff_B_Cohen @warnerbros

This film is a masterpiece. A dear friend of my family Steven Spielberg had a major influence in @BacktotheFuture one of my favorite movies of all time. Don't miss this opportunity.

If I transcend my status to a higher degree of popularity. Suddenly I could be talked about. Suddenly I might be respected beyond the present level of respect. Suddenly my DMS will fill up and the demand for my presence would grow. But who cares if that ever happens. I would be the same person I was when I was unknown. Many are superficial. Don't be superficial. Don't base your value system on who you think is better, greater or more popular than you.
Popularity doesn't always equate to greatness. Sometimes greatness is unseen. Secret before humanity. Hidden beneath the seas. Unknown before the masses. Appreciate every good person you meet. Be kind to the nobodies. True greatness is linked to love. Not to worldwide recognition. I've worked with many famous people. Some known by millions.
Fame doesn't impress me. Status doesn't impress me. Kindness, love and good character impresses me. That's hard to find. Even in me. I continue to try to pull it out of me each and everyday. By becoming a better person to all I meet. Its not an easy journey. It never will be. But I remind myself that the best is yet to come and to never stop, never give up and always press forward. To a higher level of who I am and who I will become.

Karma from was one of the coolest Halo champions I ever worked with. After Carbon's win against Final Boss in 2006. Karma was interviewed by multiple media sources. One was a local newspaper from California. They asked Ben what is he doing now? He mentioned he just signed a $250,000 contract with MLG and was also working with me. I always thought was cool that he would even mentioned me that in that interview.
Years later. I caught up with Karma when I created a pro team in 2019. I asked him to work with me. He agreed. Our team ended up taking first shortly after he signed on. Was a cool experience to see him return. In the beginning of Halo Esports. Karma was one of the great legends spoken of frequently by many Halo players. In those days. Halo was far more popular than what it is today. Transcending millions of players and fans worldwide. Known as the golden age of Halo.
