not that I hire people, but my experience is 99% of emails I get that start "Dear Dr Williams" are inviting me to review something for their fake journal or inviting me to a fake conference. Much prefer emails with a hi and at least one smiley face

In your application letter for #PhD / postdoc, NEVER ever say: "Hi prof" "Hello" "Dear Professor" "Greetings of the day" If you do, your email will be immediately deleted by 99% of professors. ▫️ Only start your applications with “Dear Prof. [second_name],” And don’t describe how good you are. Explain how valuable you are. ▫️ [Professionalism] + [Value] can go a long way. Good luck. #phdchat #AcademicChatter

In the first LEGUS-SIGNALS cross-collaboration synergy, during his Honours research here at @StromloANU, Jia Wei constrained the ionizing photons from individual HII regions with only broad band photometry! 10% escape on average, with low-luminosity HII regions the most leaky.

May the 4th was with me, but May the 10th let me down: Today I learned that "float(518)" on my Apple python distribution (v3.9.12) is not the same as "float(518)" on my student's Windows python distribution (v3.9.12)... Luckily "np.float64(518)" came to the rescue
