Here’s how we punted the finals of the RQ.
I’ve seen a lot of “you should’ve Hard Bargain’d Ride the Wind” takes but the real mistake happened earlier: not leading with Falling Star.
Some key context people might be missing:
We are going to 7 runes for the turn and had already mapped out our line on Prismat’s turn based on our hand. We knew he had Annie (we Rebuked it earlier), which meant Forerunner wasn’t holding once Annie picks up Rebuke. So the plan was to play Draven and double hold.
Then we draw Falling Star for turn and this is where we mess up.
We tunnel on our pre-planned line and don’t fully re-evaluate with the new information.
The better line: lead with Falling Star → Conquer → then still deploy Draven on Battlefield, forcing Prismat to answer two threats.
Instead, we attacked first and gave him the window to Ride the Wind. The second it happened, we realized the mistake.
Now we re-evaluate. What do we do here? If we burn our hard bargain, we can’t double hold with Draven.
At that point, we’re just praying he doesn’t find Rengar in two draws (Merchant + Conquer). We’re pretty confident he doesn’t already have Rengar since he had opportunities to play him earlier but didn’t have it.
From there: Falling Star, hope he bricks, and hold for game.
Also worth noting, we didn’t know we’d hit a second Hard Bargain off Conquer. If we did, then we can have a discussion on if we should Hard Bargain the Ride the Wind.
Credit to @Prismaticismism for playing to his outs, well deserved.
@Minh_Wins , @Collinka , and I are going to VOD review this and more from the event soon for a tournament recap video. Excited to break it all down further.
